Hi again David,
Hope your wireless bridge wan't too troublesome and the barby was good.
So, in yet another test, I took the laptop out of the loop and connected camera to poe box, ethernet cable from poe box to wifi router.
Got less than 1 second dely on my phone camera view and on my PC...
I hope the wireless bridge work doesn't take too long and you can get to the BBQ soon - you truly deserve it sir! (mind watch that Fresnel zone...)
So, would I be correct in thinking that while a laptop stresses out at the processing which it is required to do, causing a lag - an NVR will...
Hi David,
Thank you for the inormation
The microSD I've ordered is class 10
It will be interesting to see if there is the same video lag with the microSD in the camera, but with the laptop still in the loop
Will keep all cabling/connections the same
'Check the specifications before you buy...
Hi David,
I've messaged the laptop reseller to see if he would buy back the laptop. I upgraded the hard drive, so you never know.
The microSD sounds like a possible solution and I have already sent away for a 64gb sd card, which should be here in a couple of days.
If I go the microSD route -
if...
H David,
Indeed, the processor seems to be hugely straining with all of the data coming in from the camera.
I did plan to record 24/7.
When I bought the laptop (used from a reseller) there was 60gb HDD in it - I swapped that out for a 256gb SSD. I cloned the old HDD which the reseller had taken...
Hi David,
Updated all drivers (used driver updater software to find what drivers were needing updated)
In Task Manager - Running only 1 Application (the Reolink software) and cpu usage is running between 87% to 100%.
56 Processes are running. 90% of them are showing 0% cpu usage and a few are...
Hi David,
Have taken 2 screenshots of the settings. The Reolink settings page doesn't let you maximise page to see everything, it's a scrollbar at the side, so had to take 2 pics to show all settings :
David, would buying an external video card/unit help with the lag ?
I mention this because when I view the camera through the Xeoma software (the Reolink software offers very few settings adjustments), it shows the camera view ok and lags as per, but a message comes ip at the bottom of the...
Hi David,
Indeed, Smart Connect isn't a option. I'll try the changes you suggest, and see if there is any difference.
I reconnected as you suggested regarding the poe - camera into port 1 of poe, laptop into port 2 of poe and cable from uplink port of poe to ASUS router. Workes fine but still...
Hi David,
Here's a pic of the ASUS router client list showing 2.4ghz.
I did go to the web and found references on how to change settings to 5ghz in the Advanced Settings 'Wireless' page, which I did.
(in the General page, only the 'Band' setting had to be changed to 5ghz, and in the...
SUCCESS !!!
Wow - you did it 'connect to router' - that was all it needed !!!...lordy. I would never have thought of that, because of wanting to keep the system down to the absolute bare bones, I'd never have factored in connecting to the ASUS router.
When I connected the ASUS router to the...
Hi David,
I unplugged everything and then reconnected everything and opened Reolink client software - unfortunately, with same result as before, I'm getting the 'connecting/timeout messages' in the client software.
I have taken a couple of pics of the actual setup/elements involved :
Pic 1 -...
Hi David,
Thanks for the comprehensive info. That's a lot of information to digest/absorb lol.
The new camera arrived, and I downloaded the Riolink client software to see how far I could get without troubling you.
On opening, the software looks for new camera/connections.
Pic 1 - showing...
Hi David, thank you for that. I've read it several times just to get the concepts/actions in my head.
Can I explain it back to you to see if I've got it ?
I've just checked my ASUS Lan setting and DHCP server is enabled, this means that the router will provide an IP address to the...
Success Indeed David, and after the weeks of problems and failures, it feels very good to have a win.
I've taken a screenshot of my DCHP page in ASUS setup - the numbers on my screen look a bit different to yours.
The DCHP text at the top of the page has raised a few questions though :
'The...
Hi David,
So, I switched to Modem only in Virgin Super hub and all seems to be working ok.
On the Super hub, in non-Modem only configuration, I would have seen 2.4 and 5ghz blue led indicators illuminated, so they have gone out - I assume that this is normal.
I have set up new network names...
Hi David,
I let my wife know what I wanted to try (ie going Modem Mode only and letting the ASUS router handle the wifi) - she politely requested that if I could leave trying that till she goes to work tomorrow morning, then that would give me all day to try and fix it after it all goes...
Thank you David - on with the motley :
'When the Virgin hub is in modem (bridge) mode it passes the internet straight to the ASUS WAN internet port' - ahh, I get it now
'If you do change to modem mode make sure you know how to connect to the virgin hub to disable modem mode' - yes, using...
