Cameras gone faulty?

Hi guys. I have 4K hikvision cameras I bought the system about 5 years ago. At that time I bought the best of the best.

They have been great for 3 years but then we moved house and having building work done so they have been in storage now for 2 years. Today I set them back up on new house and only 1 out of the 6 cameras work properly. Well they all work but only 1 camera has a clear view all others the quality isn’t great like 1080p max. Seem abit blury. 1 camera is definitely broken the lense has misted

And 1 camera the top right corner is clear and rest blurry.

The system isn’t connect to Wi-Fi yet that won’t be the issue will it?
 
It is unlikely that a quantity of your cameras have failed.
It could be any number of issues.
If possible, it is good to test each camera via a short shop-bought network patch lead (to rule out any cabling / installation issues).
Step one would be to bring each camera (and your NVR, if applicable) up to the latest firmware version.

Thanks mate I will try a new cable tomz. I did crimp the new rj45s on myself but thought I did it correctly.

I have also noticed they don’t work at night either even the clear camera doesn’t work!

How do you update firmware? Is there any links u no of I can follow on how to updated?
 
Check them at night don’t no what’s going on there lol

The second image looks like IR reflection - typically seen at night when you have dome cameras with built-in IR LEDs inside the dome bubble and issues such as a dirty dome bubble cover.
The first image may be just a lack of light - it looks as if the camera is trying to render colour images although there is insufficient light in the scene.

If you can list your NVR and camera model numbers, we can link you to a 'How To' to update the firmware, and to where to download the correct latest firmware for each model.

I tried new cable today mate still the same. It is very dark at the house but my last house the rear garden had no lights at all and still worked fine at night. Just don’t understand why it doesn’t work. When the flood light comes on the camera literally goes white.

I did playback again today and it looks abit better at night now. But when it turns light around 4ish the screen looks misted then clears up as it gets fully light outside. Strange!

Can you login to your NVR & camera and go to Configuration > System > System Settings > Basic Information and confirm the current firmware versions of each device?

If you haven't updated the firmware for quite a long time you might be too many versions behind to update straight to the latest and we may need to link you to some earlier versions to update in steps.
 
Hi attached pics. Ignore the 3rd camera that’s just a spare I had. The top 2 I am not sure why the firmware info is different as it’s the same camera. I have 4 of these just the other 2 are that bad not worth putting up.

We were quite shocked to see the firmware version your NVR is running, I can't remember the last time we saw an I-series NVR running v3 firmware (that dates back to 2017).

You are about 19 versions behind so you are going to have to do quite a few steps to get it up to the latest firmware, we've listed/linked below each firmware you should update to and the order to do it in:

V4.1.10 build171107
V4.1.54 build180621
V4.1.64 build190119
V4.22.005 build191208
V4.40.015 build200616
V4.50.000 build210125
V4.51.005 build210628
V4.60.000 build211129
V4.61.000 build220507

Update to each of these firmware versions one at a time and then let us know once you are running the latest firmware and we will look at updating the camera firmware.

The below instructions will show you how to update the firmware using the Internet Explorer browser:


If you can't access the NVR with a browser and only access via the direct monitor you will need to load each firmware file onto a freshly formatted USB stick and plug it into the NVR, go to Maintenance > Upgrade > Local Upgrade, select the USB stick from the device list, select the firmware file, and click Upgrade.

Have tried but it won’t let me choose a file?
 
I have been at it for hours trying to download plugins etc just not working... I have just ordered a usb stick so will try the other way u suggested mate,

Hi mate, I have finally done the update. Had taken me 4 hours but all done!! Thanks alot for the links and info much appreciated!

Now just need to update the cameras lol. Any more links ect if u have the time

Good to hear you got the firmware update (sorry I missed your earlier posts when you were struggling to load the files).

Are the cameras plugged into the PoE ports on the NVR or are they connected to a separate PoE injector/switch elsewhere on the local network?

Hi mate .

Yes they are plugged into the nvr via Poe ports.
 
Ok,

You will need to login to the NVR and enable Virtual Host, once that is enabled you will have access to each individual camera to update the firmware.

As all 3 of your cameras are 23x5FWD models they will all use the G1 camera firmware, below are the versions and order we would update through:

V5.5.80 180911
V5.5.83 190221
V5.6.1 190604
V5.6.4 191224
V5.6.6 210625

I may update my cameras soon to the 4K colour vu ones would I need a new nvr if upgrading to them? I just think these 4K I have now are just not very good at night.
