The default IP address for Hikvision IP cameras is: 192.168.1.64

If you are adding a Hikvision camera to your existing network, you can set this to any new IP address that you may prefer to use (of course, it needs to be within your network domain range).

By default nowadays Hikvision IP cameras ship with DHCP enabled - this means that in a typical setup when you add the camera to your network it will interact with your router and allow your router to issue it with an appropriate and available IP address. You do need to activate the camera first, by entering a strong password.

NB - we typically recommend that you disable DHCP after the camera's address has been set, otherwise the router will be able to issue it with new and different addresses after any power cycle or reboot.

[DHCP = Dynamic Host Control Protocol]

Hikvision's SADP utility is usually needed as the first step when you add a new camera to your network, so that you can:

If you are adding your camera to an NVR, just plug it in (from new / from it's inactive state) and the NVR will activate it and issue it with an appropriate IP address in the network range that the NVR manages (not in your main network domain range, but a separate domain range under the NVR's control).
