I have DS-2CD2555FWD and DS-2CD2455FWD. I think it put me in "older" category in your setup (I think yours 2CD21XX and mine 2CD25XX are exactly the same generation but just different versions). Yours is probably dome, mine are mini-dome and cube. Can you downgrade the firmware?

@pgdh , the problem mentioned in the title was introduced with one of the firmware versions. Only one folder was being used and constantly overwritten despite quotas, separate disks for single camera, exclusive Samba shares, etc. It was fixed (probably with ver.5.6.2). Your problem is different...

One more thing to try: please enable/configure email alerts. Even if you don't need them try at least temporarily. My notifications worked spotlessly for 1 year. Then out of the blue they became extremely unreliable (maybe 1 out of 10). And success ratio fluctuates from one month to another...

Thanks @spirch. But how are you going to run them? Just from your PC manually (windows)? Some sort of schedule (crone in Linux?) Or some sort of home automation (smartthings)? I would love to integrate my cameras with smartthings (just simple commands via virtual buttons to arm/disarm cameras)...
