    Milesight 5mp minidome help

Provided the NVR has a means of reaching the camera on the network, it should work. It would be handy if you could leave it and have it all work.

My cameras work with no default gateway. Can you just remove the one on the camera?

Ok, here’s a suggestion. Can you give the Mac a 192.168.254.x address where x = 200 or something else unused. Then try to hit the 192.168.254.12 address on the Milesight. This would work wired into the PoE switch and may also work on your LAN if you’ve run a cable between.

That default gateway of 192.168.5.1 doesn’t really fit your networks. If that is set now, then it would cause problems. You’ll probably find it left empty on your working cameras. I can understand this is a bit tricky to fix. It’s like the puzzle with the fox, chicken and the bag of grain.

I’m not sure those two address differ. I guess one is wrong. Ok, you’re making progress. Do you have a screen grab of the IP setup of the milesight? Maybe something differs there that causes routing problems.

You shouldn’t cause an IP clash if you just alter the default gateway.

Can you just alter the default gateway on the Mac as a test? Use the IP of the NVR as the gateway.

The destination IP can be 192.168.254.0 to reach the whole subnet. If 192.168.0.81 is the IP of the NVR, then it should work. I’d suggest 1 as the metric. Does it allow you to reach any of your other cameras on the NVR?

If you can’t use the virtual host, then a static route is the remaining option. I put one on my router and I can connect using any device. If you can’t set one on your router, then setting one on the Mac is possible.

    do I have any options

I’m just a Hikvision customer and have no influence with them. When I needed a camera unlocked it was as simple as sending the file and waiting for them to email the file to unlock it. I presume you are not in the U.K. like us.

    do I have any options

Are they saying the unit didn’t come from them? Have you tried China? Failing that I guess you’ll need to replace the DVR.

    do I have any options

Do you have the ‘hidden button’ at the bottom left of the login screen? Double-click that. Needs to be with a monitor attached to the DVR, not via software.

Plug it into the NVR and use a static route on the Mac to go via the NVR’s LAN interface.

    multiple nvr access issue

If you are reaching any of the NVRs, this suggest your dynamic DNS is resolving correctly. If you don’t hit the NVR you are expecting on the specific port, that’s likely to be the configuration of the router. As it’s not that clear, I’m presuming you are getting NVR 1 whether you use port 85...

    multiple nvr access issue

Hard to imagine why you need different DDNS links if they are all attached to the same router. If they are all on the same router, as I’m assuming, then the port redirection (forwarding) on the router might be wrong.

    Use of different switches

I’m surprised at the need to put the camera on the general LAN subnet, as I wouldn’t expect to do that.

    Use of different switches

It matters not where the power originates. For a single camera I’d look at PoE injectors rather than change the switch, but either will work.
