    Another quality/troubleshooting question

They look like they may have drops of dried water on them. Spray with a glass cleaner and wipe with a microfibre cloth and see if that helps.

    Another quality/troubleshooting question

Are they done cameras? Maybe they just need a clean with a microfibre cloth.

    GUI 4.0

Manuals are a joke. This one is 324 pages! https://oversea-download.hikvision.com/uploadfile/Firmware/NVR/UM/V3.4.92/IK/UD04699B_Baseline_User%20Manual%20of%20Network%20Video%20Recorder_V3.4.92_20170207.pdf

    Hikvision NVR Icon Question

It means that the camera is recording. Don’t think you can disable the icon.

    GUI 4.0

Yeah I believe that manual is the most up to date for the I series Nvr and other series. The manual is a bit over the top for most though. Ideally I’m looking for a basic document explains the playback and file management options. The best I can find is this GUI 3.0 document. If I could find...

    GUI 4.0

Am I right in saying that only the I series Nvr’s have the GUI 4.0 interface? Are there any pdf manuals for GUI 4.0 pls? :)

Two thousand posts - onwards & upwards!

Very interesting Phil and I for one really appreciate your input on this forum. :) That Hikvision catalogue is insane! A brief glance is all I could afford without becoming overwhelmed with the quantity of different products. A big thumbs up for USE-IP

    CCTV and the law

I’m sure the Data Protection act was tweaked a couple of years ago in that it must be followed on a domestic system if a public area is in the field of view.

Hik-Connect Hik-Connect: unable to view remotely (network unstable error)

No. Did you install/set up the system? You will need the admin login details and gain access to the settings either using a monitor connected direct to your Dvr/Nvr or by using a remote pc.

Hik-Connect Hik-Connect: unable to view remotely (network unstable error)

Check your sub stream settings. Hik-Connect shows the sub stream as defaults(basic) main stream(HD) needs to be selected manually. I normally set the sub stream as 1080p @6fps.

    Looks good to me :)

    Viewing remotely over 4G

Port forwarding and the Dvr address should be the same. Change the Dvr address to 192.168.0.2 and it should work.

    New I-series firmware 4.1.70

Correct me if I am wrong but didn’t Hikvision have a link where you could experiment with the new software layout

    Viewing remotely over 4G

Your port forwarding ip address is 192.168.0.21 On the Dvr the address is 192.168.0.2 You need to change the Dvr address to 192.168.0.21. To improve performance I would change the DNS address to 8.8.8.8 and the backup to 8.8.4.4 I would also enable the upnp option. btw I used to use iVMS-4500...

    4k over coax

Hikvision Tvi 4K(8mp) cameras are readily available. Depends on the quality of the coax. Copper clad coax can give poor picture quality so pure copper is the way to go.
