    M Series NVR - Firmware V5.04.070 Release 250828

That pretty much confirms for us that it was the MS Edge browser update that caused this issue... I was able to get Edge working again by reloading "Local Service Control" and "Web Plugin Components", but that has not worked for @busterboy ... I loaded this (latest version 2025/08/25): from...

    Fault with HikvisionDS-2CD2342WD-1 4MP EXIR

There are lots of videos that show how to replace an RJ45 connector:

    Fault with HikvisionDS-2CD2342WD-1 4MP EXIR

Good! I'm pretty sure if you replace that connector on the cable outside you will be good!

    M Series NVR - Firmware V5.04.070 Release 250828

I don't think it had any significance, but I did delete "Cached images and files" in Edge before I tried reloading "Local Service Control" and "Web Plugin Components".

    M Series NVR - Firmware V5.04.070 Release 250828

So, I updated (or just re-installed?) "Local Service Control" and "Web Plugin Components"... now live view is working again for NVR web GUI and the individual camera web GUIs :) I don't think it was the M-series firmware update that caused this... I think it was the Edge update that caused...

    Fault with HikvisionDS-2CD2342WD-1 4MP EXIR

Can't be sure... it probably is, but pretty much any Ethernet cable would work fine, CAT5, CAT5E, CAT6, CAT7... so I wouldn't worry about that too much.... anything that looks like an Ethernet cable should work! If the cable were damaged during the woodwork, I think you would have seen the...

    M Series NVR - Firmware V5.04.070 Release 250828

I'm certain that when I installed the new firmware last Wednesday (5 days ago) the live view in the Edge browser I have been using still worked... have been gone for a few days, seen this thread, checked, and I now have the same problem... no live view in Edge browser... I notice that I also...

    Fault with HikvisionDS-2CD2342WD-1 4MP EXIR

If the camera turns out to be the culprit, we'll try to find a similar new one that will mount easily on that existing junction box cover... it shouldn't be a big deal to get it up and running. If I were in your shoes, I'd be hoping it's the camera that's bad... most of the time swapping out a...

Yes, that is perfect to test with!

    Fault with HikvisionDS-2CD2342WD-1 4MP EXIR

Yes... those 4 screws are holding a junction box cover to the junction box... if you take them out then the camera will come off with the junction box cover... then just unclip the Ethernet connection and the camera should be free. Bring it inside and test in the same NVR port... How high up is...

Seeking Alternatives to iVMS-4200 Without the Need for a PC to Run Continuously

It looks promising but I think it's early days yet with this V1.1.1. For instance, this simple obviously useful setting from iVMS-4200 is missing: Unless I missed something? I hope I'm wrong! :)

    Fault with HikvisionDS-2CD2342WD-1 4MP EXIR

Yes, same on both end... I just assume that these days everyone would have an extra/unused/spare one of these laying around somewhere? Check your kitchen draws, or a box you have somewhere with extra electronic equipment, or under your bed... you must have one somewhere! :)

    Fault with HikvisionDS-2CD2342WD-1 4MP EXIR

Good... you have confirmed the NVR port is working... But now you do have to take the camera down and test it with another cable to determine if it is the cable or camera that is broken. From google: "Power over Ethernet (PoE) sends both electrical power and network data through a single...

    Fault with HikvisionDS-2CD2342WD-1 4MP EXIR

Yes, the camera is not drawing power, so it seems like you have a hardware fault... either the camera, the cable, or the D1 port on the NVR. You need to take the camera down and plug it into the same NVR D1 port with a short/patch/test cable... if it then starts working, the cable to the camera...

What do you see if you select the "PoE Settings" and "PoE Binding Configuration" items?

    Fault with HikvisionDS-2CD2342WD-1 4MP EXIR

No chance of a shock... it's low voltage.... Take the camera down and try connecting it to the same PoE port on the NVR with a short patch cable. If the camera works, the cable is bad, if not, it's the camera or the PoE port on the NVR that is the problem. Before you take the camera down, you...

    DS-7608NI-E2-8P V3.3.0 trying to adding a DS-2CD2366G2-ISU_SL

Are you sure you selected "Close" as @trempa92 suggested? I think this is the setting he was referring to: I would definitely consider getting a newer NVR as the E series is quite dated, has limited bandwidth, and does not get any new firmware updates related to security. Also, it may not...
