I am suffering this issue for very long times (probably 3 years now). So I gave up on this. There are several other users / installers who reported the same.
I recommend you check two things:
1. Check in Logs that smart events are in fact logged. In my case the cameras correctly identify smart...
I have DS-2CD2555FWD and DS-2CD2455FWD. I think it put me in "older" category in your setup (I think yours 2CD21XX and mine 2CD25XX are exactly the same generation but just different versions). Yours is probably dome, mine are mini-dome and cube.
Can you downgrade the firmware?
In my case, I get motion notifcations but not any other smart events.
Smart events - like line crossing detection are recorded in logs each time. But I get maybe only 1 out of 100 events. Checking manually past events in HIK Connect does not show missing notifications either. Like they were...
I am not familiar with doorbell, but is there an option to sent email notification?
I have 4 cameras (IP 3) and stopped receiving notifications about 2 years ago (now maybe only 1 out of 100 events gets to HIK Connect). All events are captured correctly (i can see logs, pictures, etc) but...
@pgdh , the problem mentioned in the title was introduced with one of the firmware versions. Only one folder was being used and constantly overwritten despite quotas, separate disks for single camera, exclusive Samba shares, etc. It was fixed (probably with ver.5.6.2).
Your problem is different...
One more thing to try: please enable/configure email alerts. Even if you don't need them try at least temporarily.
My notifications worked spotlessly for 1 year. Then out of the blue they became extremely unreliable (maybe 1 out of 10). And success ratio fluctuates from one month to another...
Hmmm... strange one.
I have RT87U with PlusNet and it works fine (almost: events are not reliable at all). No port forwarding necessary. However it would be useful if you assigned static IP to Cameras or NVR.
These are few selected settings I have - pls compare
Firewall:
- Enable Firewall: Yes...
Thanks @spirch.
But how are you going to run them? Just from your PC manually (windows)? Some sort of schedule (crone in Linux?) Or some sort of home automation (smartthings)?
I would love to integrate my cameras with smartthings (just simple commands via virtual buttons to arm/disarm cameras)...
Yeah, this Max / Average bit rate is a bit funny - it is only theoretical target and can vary significantly.
I have 6MP cameras and each has 600GB partition allocated. On h265+ with 8192/4096 (20fps) they take anything between 18 days to 7 days to use up that space and start overwriting.
I have...
As you said you will most likely need to initialize disk for each camera which will end up with losing recordings.
However, why don't you just copy what you have on existing partitions to free space you will create? Cameras overwrite recorded material anyway so:
1. resize your partitions and...
HD stream doesn't work me either. It either never starts and gives the same error as yours or plays very slowly (1 sec in HD stream takes 2-3 sec) or skips or video freezes while audio still plays from camera.
I even added camera locally to Hik-Connect (via IP address) thinking it may be problem...
No idea.
Many years ago I used to have NAS (WD MyBook World) based on BusyBox and it was quite limited.
But if you can find optware feed that would support processor / architecture used in hikvision cameras then there will be lots of tools you could use.
1. Make sure you have the latest firmware. Earlier versions had a problem where only ~200G could be allocated as one drive.
2. Make sure that drive you are sharing can only be written by camera/NVR. Camera neds to know how much space is allocated. If something gets written to that disk by...
I would actually be interested in what kind of pictures you get at night.
For me still objects are ok. But moving objects (people walking by my drive) are pretty much impossible to see faces.
I added 2xIR arrays and then added light diffuser but faces are still over-exposed. Without those IR...
I think you are expecting too much. I have a bit higher resolution than you (5Mpixel but the camera actually records in 6MP) and the rwg plate is barely recognisable.
Attached is a picture of BMW 20 meters away. Admittedly this is with 2.8mm lens so as Phil mentioned it may not be the best for...
So, I've been testing this and the setting definitely doesn't reset overnight. Which is actually good (I would be annoyed if I have to keep switching it off every day).
I tried disabling push notifications (just kept "Receive Events but NOT push Notifications") or disabling Notifications...
