I have a HikVision 7208Q DVR but the when I look at the camera windows on the DVR monitor I see a red and black box, top right hand corner. I don't get this if I connect via the HikVision app on my phone. Is there any way of getting rid of it.

I must say I really do find IVMS-4200 a rather clunky program. It's very very slow and the UI is not at all intuitive. Is there an alternative product that is meaner and leaner ?

I have done a bit more experimenting and if I create a group then I get some degree of success (some of the devices work but not all). Is it true that it can only be used if one creates groups. I didn't need to do that on the Mac version.

Sorry, I've only just read your message properly. I have only so far used Hik-Connect locally. That explains why I haven't been able to make it work remotely, I thought it was my port forwarding. So, is the only way of accessing it remotely to go via a Hikvision account ?

I have the above DVR and am looking to upgrade the firmware (so that live streams will work over the web). I bought it from Aliexpress, but it appears to be a European model. Where do I find the firmware for this, the Hikvision website is very confusing.
