I was about 5 versions behind and I had to apply each one in order. I also had to reboot the pc I was using whenever the update required a new plugin at the pc end.

Thanks Phil. I have updated to latest firmware and will hope that fixes the issue. I was a couple of firmware versions behind, and I did have to apply each one, it wouldn't let me jump to the latest.

I have had exactly the same issue with my DS-2CD2342WD-I in the last two weeks. It happened first time on Saturday 23rd Sep at 12:57 and then again on Friday 29th Sep at 02:14. The camera fully resets and returns to default settings including being inactive and requiring reactivation with SADPTool.
