Hi, just got my pair of ANPR cameras going and I don't own an NVR. My two hik IP cams are on separate ip addresses and believe the HikConnect app (for my mobile) will only allow 1 account with 1 ip address and hence non multi screen view. Can anyone tell me do i have to have an NVR to view both cams on HIK Connect? I am trying to avoid using an NVR as the number of cameras will remain at 2.

thanks

There’s no issue just adding both IP cameras to your Hik Connect account. You can easily view both cameras in one view by putting them in a group.

oh many thanks, i had somehow unerstood that couldnot be achieved. cheers.

So long as you use the Hik-Connect service and add each camera to your Hik-Connect account you'll have no issue. Perhaps if you were adding the cameras without the Hik-Connect service using your external IP address then it's a bit more of a faff on. In that case you would need to change the port numbers on one of the cameras or map a different external port number to one of them in the router.

I'm good now thanks, Got the group and was able to add devices it could see on the network without inputting IP address, just the learning curve I guess. It looks like a good app though I can't simultaneously see both cams output but I'm just moaning now! The timeline scroll and other features look pretty good.

With the group tab selected at the top of the screen there are several ways of seeing both simultaneously:

1 - Touch the title of the group (on the left of the screen above the thumbnails)
2 - Touch the play icon (on the right of the screen above the thumbnails)
3 - Touch one of the thumbnails to play a single camera, then double tap the image to display both

Hik-Connect doesn't support a 2 camera side by side screen split, so you'll always get a 2 x 2 split with the lower two sections empty.

Hik-Connect has a lot of features and settings and is regularly updated. It's worth perusing the user manual if you get stuck. It can be found by clicking 'Me' - A link to the User Manual is in the 'Help Center' section of the screen.

thank you so much for that JB1970, it worked great for me, i just assumed it wasn't a feature but yes I should have rtfm at least :-) thanks again.
