Link Drops regularly from DS-2CD2347G2H-LISU/SL to NVR?

Hello, I have just bought a DS-2CD2347G2H-LISU/SL camera for use with a DS-7716NI-E4/16P. The camera is brand new out of the box and so I connected it to the NVR with 'Plug and Play' to PoE port 3.

The camera works fine, but where the problem lies is that the link to the NVR drops out regularly like clockwork every 5 minutes on each 5-minute mark at roughly 10 seconds past the mark (ie: 05,10,15,20,etc)- the dropout is for about 30 seconds.

This seems to be an NVR problem because I am currently logged in to the configuration page on the camera with the Live View page active and there is no connection drop - the page has been accessed via the Virtual Host so the URL is the IP address of the NVR plus ":65003/doc/page/config" for example yet the webpage does not drop out.

The camera has inherited the necessary settings from the NVR such as IP and password. The gateway address is set to the internal NIC card of the NVR (192.168.5.1) and subnet mask is 255.255.255.0 the same as any other Hik device connected through PoE, whilst DNS is set to 168.126.63.1 and 168.126.63.2 the same as all my other cameras.

The NVR is updated to the latest firmware, both camera and NVR are set to video codec H264+ (the NVR doesn't do H265).

It seems a bit odd for this to happen with just the one camera. I'm wondering if changing the camera adding method from 'plug and play' to 'manual' will solve the issue, yet the whole reason I chose p&p was because I couldn't be bothered with manually adding the camera!

Any help appreciated.

Have you tried plug & play on another port on the NVR? To rule out a port problem?
Have you tried another cable to rule out a cable problem?

It's quite an old NVR model - make sure that you are running the latest firmware available for it.

As an update, it seemed to resolve itself during the overnight period... which in some ways is even more bizarre as I didn't make any other changes.

NVR is up to date on latest firmware.

One thing I've noticed, which I believe is a fairly common issue, is that the thumbnail images within the playback timeline do not appear and instead I get "No Resource" - these being the little still images that appear just above the play bar in playback mode. I didn't have this with the previous camera, but that was a 3mp one and I've read this is an issue with 4mp and above. I've tried altering bitrate and the video quality settings but no change. The playback itself is a bit jumpy if I try and scrub through the footage - but only during the daytime, after dark it's fine in that regard.

The thumbnails won't work for any camera connected that's over 3 megapixels on the E series and older NVRs. If you're looking for something newer that won't break the bank, I believe there's an DS-7616NI-I2/16P available on Gumtree (search 1476484171) - it's collect only but you might be able to come to an agreement if you message them on that site ;-)
