I assume I did something totally wrong when I setup the device first.
Now I would like to change the configuration, but it does not accept my password ( Admin password ) . When I go to forgot password , it mentiones "not set" -- what does it mean
now ?
Can I completely "hard Setet" the device to factory default -- or what are the options. I do need urgent help

it means you skipped password recovery in wizzard.

There is no hard reset with this device.

Either extract xml via sadp tool and mail it to installer or hikvison
Or flash firmware via tftp it might reset itself
3rd option is to use hik partner pro with authorized installer account and open online case for resetting device

Thank you a lot.
I bought the device from ebay "as NEW " , but it obvious was net new. That was bad luck. When I try to go to the configuration on the device
it does not allow 888999 password. when I press "reset Password" it shows "not set" , whatever that means.
I would for sure try to perform a firmware flash with tftp it this works. I could not find in the web any example how this was done yet with
this kind of monitor.
To use a authorized installer account would be maybe the best, but how can I find something with such an account in my reagion?
Also I would have no problem sending the device to such an installer for resetting here in Germany. Better then not using it.
I did not expect such problems, and ask me how future save this device family really is ?

What if you buy a house, which does have a hikvision dorr entry system, any password info is not available ? Also no info who installed it, ...

what to do ?

Any authorized hikvision installer can reset password. Google them in your region.

Usually they charge 20-30€ if its remotely done.
