No Video on all Digital Cameras on Hikvision but work on another system

Hi,

I have an old Hikvision system that was setup in 2019 along with our new house.

It's a 12 port digital with 2 IP ports, but all my cameras are digital. DVR-216G-F1 is the model.

I have 10 digital cameras connected to the system.

The system worked fine for a very long time, and then started having HD issues, so we removed the HD (I tried replacing with a compatible one but the problem remained), despite their being no disk, the cameras continued to work until about three months ago, when they all suddenly went black and white, and one of them had a flicker.

I tried everything I could think of, including attempting to contact Hikvision with zero response.

So I went on Ali Express and ordered a cheap 4 port digital DVR.

When it arrived I connected 4 streams (including the one that was flickering), and other than the flickering one which is still flickering, so I know is probably bad, all the others showed up in color and worked great.

I reconnected them to the Hikvision, and now I am getting "No Video" on all the cameras.

Reconnecting them back to the cheap system, all work in color. Attaching them back to the Hikvision, and "No Video".

I factory reset the Hikvision system, input all the parameters to what they were, and no change. I also recycled the power to all the cameras, and that too did not help.

Connecting a screen directly to the system also shows "No Video" on all streams.

I'm at a loss as to what the problem could be. Why would it work on the cheap system, but not the main one ?

Any ideas ? Do I need to replace the system ?

Any assistance would be greatly accepted.

The likelihood is that when you connected them to replacement NVR, the cameras have ended up having their IP addresses and password changed (easily done if the system is 'plug and play'. Start afresh and factory default the NVR and factory default the IP cameras before connecting them to the NVR.

Hi,

Thanks for the response, but as I stated, my system is a DVR, not NVR, and the cameras are all digital, not IP.

I appreciate the time you took to respond in any case.

Ah ok. You said you had 10 digital cameras connected to the system which is why I assumed IP. The cameras are not digital they are analogue HD/HDTVi.

As the cameras are powering and displaying correctly on the new DVR that leaves two possibilities I can think of:

1 - This is very unlikely but... Depending on the model of camera you have, it may be possible to switch resolution on it in the cameras own menu. If you have done that while they were connected to the new recorder, it's plausible that you have switched them to a format/resolution that is not supported on the older Hikvision recorder. As an example a 5 megapixel Hikvision camera can be configured on its internal menu to output at 2MP, 4MP, 5MP (all HDTVi), CVI, CVBS, AHD etc. If you were to set a camera up at 5MP and plug it into your Hikvision DVR, it wouldn't display, as it's maximum resolution is 1080P (2MP)

2 - The DVR is knackered

I think option 2 is more likely as the cameras I have do not have a camera connection to it's menu.

I've actually never connected to them at all, so I wouldn't even know how to do it.

I have a feeling its the DVR.
