POE Distance Setting (Long vs Short)?

Hi All,

All my cameras are significantly less than 100 meters in Ethernet distance.

I have HiLook NVR (HIL-108MH-C-8P), should I be setting the POE distance to Long Range or Short Range?

It seems that some people just set Long Range regardless of distance to improve stability. Does anyone know if this has any merit for HiLook or Hikivision products or would this just waste electricity and put extra unnecessary burden on the NVR?

They should just be left on short distance. I don’t know why anyone would think that stability would be improved using the other setting. If the cables are properly installed and connected there shouldn’t be any instability.
