I've bought a house which has 4 x DS-2CD2125G0-IMS 2MP Cameras, but the previous owner has taken the NVR. The cables are all intact.
They have suggested that I should buy a DS-7604NI-K1/4P/4G to operate the system. I would prefer a SSD model - would a DS-E04NI-Q1/4P(SSD 2T) do the job and allow remote ios app access? Would it be just a matter of plugging it in and setting up?

Thanks for any advice.

A DS-7604NXI-K1/4P might be better (unless you’re needing to operate it with a Mobile data SIM) as it has AcuSense built in if your cameras don’t have the feature. The SSD model would also do it (check the data sheets to compare)

Whichever you choose you’ll need to reset the existing cameras to get them working unless the previous owner will furnish you with the admin password. Without it you may have to access the cameras to get at a reset button.

Or the seller was nice enough to set the cameras to inactive before he removed the NVR. That's probably too optimistic. :(

I never tried, but if you plug an activated (random password already set) camera into the NVR, the "Show Password" function wouldn't work I suppose? :(

Thanks for all the info. That's great. I'll ask and see if I can get the password.

Normally the password is the same as the NVR admin password which they will have (otherwise they will have issues themselves)
