I know I have a lot of reading to do on here, but from what I've seen it seems to be the right place
I've been tasked to take care of an issue with my companies DVR system. That issue will probably be another thread (turning the audio off on live view) but I wanted to put this out there.
There are two hikvision DVR's with camera's connected directly to them.
The DVR's are connected to the same switch.
The DVR's get their IP from the router on the other side of the switch (Router and Switch connected with a fiber connection to the main building).
DHCP is turned on, on the DVR's.
The camera's have the same IP network as what the router gives out and has assigned to the DVR units. e.g 192.168.0.#
The camera's IP addresses on each DVR mirror each other. Meaning, on DVR1 the camera's IP's are 192.168.0.2, 192.168.0.3, 192.168.0.4 etc.. and on DVR2 the addresses are the same 192.168.0.2, 192.168.0.3, 192.168.0.4 etc...
As one example, one camera on one of the DVR is 192.168.0.5, and on the other DVR there is a camera that is 192.168.0.5 ... and there is a printer on the network that is also 192.168.0.5. Are the camera's IP's "isolated" from the rest of the network by the DVR?.. or is this as crazy as it seems
I was reading that the IP's of the camera's shouldn't have the same network address as what is being assigned to the DVR's from the router.
Is it okay to mirror the IP's on the DVR's, as long as they are not the same network address what the router assigns to the DVR's, and the camera's are plugged into the DVR?
Virtual Host is enabled on the DVR's but when I click on link (IP of DVR with unique port number) the camera's are unreachable. (which is where I need to turn the Audio off, I think).
Sorry I don't have more details at the moment. If you want more I can provide tomorrow.
