This has to be an issue right? IP Conflict

I know I have a lot of reading to do on here, but from what I've seen it seems to be the right place :)

I've been tasked to take care of an issue with my companies DVR system. That issue will probably be another thread (turning the audio off on live view) but I wanted to put this out there.

There are two hikvision DVR's with camera's connected directly to them.

The DVR's are connected to the same switch.

The DVR's get their IP from the router on the other side of the switch (Router and Switch connected with a fiber connection to the main building).

DHCP is turned on, on the DVR's.

The camera's have the same IP network as what the router gives out and has assigned to the DVR units. e.g 192.168.0.#

The camera's IP addresses on each DVR mirror each other. Meaning, on DVR1 the camera's IP's are 192.168.0.2, 192.168.0.3, 192.168.0.4 etc.. and on DVR2 the addresses are the same 192.168.0.2, 192.168.0.3, 192.168.0.4 etc...

As one example, one camera on one of the DVR is 192.168.0.5, and on the other DVR there is a camera that is 192.168.0.5 ... and there is a printer on the network that is also 192.168.0.5. Are the camera's IP's "isolated" from the rest of the network by the DVR?.. or is this as crazy as it seems :)

I was reading that the IP's of the camera's shouldn't have the same network address as what is being assigned to the DVR's from the router.

Is it okay to mirror the IP's on the DVR's, as long as they are not the same network address what the router assigns to the DVR's, and the camera's are plugged into the DVR?

Virtual Host is enabled on the DVR's but when I click on link (IP of DVR with unique port number) the camera's are unreachable. (which is where I need to turn the Audio off, I think).

Sorry I don't have more details at the moment. If you want more I can provide tomorrow.

@DASD IP addresses should be unique to devices on the same network. What model numbers are the devices involved?

Thanks for the reply. I'll post some specifics later today. I just wasn't sure if the DVR would route to the cameras. Meaning, should I be able to Ping the camera IP when it is connect to the DVR? When I do it say destination unreachable. Funny thing is on the surface it all seems to be working. The cameras are working but there seems to be printer issues (not the printer with the IP I mentioned earlier) sometimes and other network glitches. I just started at this company so the setup is new to me. More investigation need! When on the web interface, I think it is System > Camera Management - when that window opens (where you select you camera from the drop down list) there is a error that says something like, Network disconnected or abnormal. I will get screen shots. Have a great day!

Both NVR's are:

Model: DS-7616NXI-K2 / 16P
Firmware: V4.82.100 build 240606

I get the Error: network is disconnected or abnormal when I go into the Audio/Video section

I'm guessing the first step should be to update the IP addresses on the cameras, keeping them unique and on different network segments, even from each other.

Router model and screenshots of the NVR's and router IP network setup would help.

Are the cameras connected to the rear ports on the NVR's?

The router model is an Adtran SDG 854-6. The router is only configurable through the "Wi-FI App" provided by the ISP. I was just reading that only devices connected by WIFI can use IP Reservation. There is no access to any settings in the browser interface. I think we need a new router.

The cameras are connected to the NVR's.

The network is 172.16.0.x (one of three options in the "WIFI App")

The NVR's have 172.16.0.x IP's

Both NVR's show the cameras having the same IP's, mirrored to each other like

NVR1 Camera 1 - 172.16.0.2 - NVR2 Camera 1 - 172.16.0.2
NVR1 Camera 2 - 172.16.0.3 - NVR2 Camera 2 - 172.16.0.3
NVR1 Camera 3 - 172.16.0.4 - NVR2 Camera 3 - 172.16.0.4
etc.

In the "WIFI App" for the router shows the IP's for the NVR's and only 172.16.0.2 for the cameras are reserved, but according to the ISP's website, since they are connected by ethernet the reservation doesn't work? Only devices on WIFI can do IP Reservation. And like I said, there's two cameras and a printer with the same IP and no reservation for that IP.

I can connect to the browser interface of both NVR's and see the cameras, but when I go into configuration > Audio / Video I get the network error. When I click on the Virtual Host links, a new browser window loads, and then times out. It's the NVR took too long.

looking at the router manual default web gui access is possible via ethernet or wifi, yours could be disabled. Also looks like default DHCP IP reservations are on the LAN for ethernet and wifi interfaces. double check on your router.

Be very careful if you change settings, not understanding your network setup could lose LAN / internet connectivity.

check your router DHCP server is enabled and that all your network devices are set for DHCP clients.

Screenshots of your router / NVR's / Printer / cameras network settings would be very helpful.
