OK - thanks again I have confirmed the cameras are:
DS-2CD2346G2-ISU/SL
https://www.hikvision.com/en/products/IP-Products/Network-Cameras/acusense-series/ds-2cd2346g2-isu-sl/
And I found a place in the monitoring app which showed me the password when I supplied the NVR password! So I've now...
Thank you and you're right - that's not my camera. I had just tried to match it by appearance. Perhaps it's this one:

How do I reset it without the password and is...
Thanks @Kyle.
I've tried various things over the last few months and thought I'd list them for other people's benefit:
Scene Change, Region Entrance, Region Exiting are completely ineffective for me.
"Local Smart Analysis" give too many false positives and misses real events (people)...
I've looked around and can't find definitive information on if this is possible and if so how.
I have DS-2CE72DF0T-F cameras attached to a DS7608-NXI-I2/8P/4S. The white light attracts insects and spiders meaning I get a constant stream of false alarms every night.
I cannot find any option to...
Hi,
I have the opportunity to modify the setup of my NVR. It's a DS7608-NXI-I2/8P/4S.
I found that pretty much every box was ticked for Events: motion, region, line crossing etc. But I'm presuming that's largely redundant and it certainly triggers a lot of false events. Is there a reference...
I've resolved the issue with the cameras. And for those who find themselves in a similar position: here's how:
I certainly don't know what I'm doing but it's clear the company who installed it did not either. The hikvision switch is a red herring. It's not needed.
I remembered that in...
I believe I know the company it was purchased through and have given them that. I've had no response from that company. It's only small and might not be trading now. I'll keep my fingers crossed. But will that allow me to resolve the problem?
Yes the cameras / cables are A, B, C..
The user name and password are separate - not the admin account on the NVR itself.
The Windows app is "IVMS-4200 3.5.0.7 Client"
Quick Update
So I've had some quite random success ignoring the switch and port 5 on the NVR started working.
The labels I'm using are:
1 2 3 4
5 6 7 8
For these 8 ports I still can't get a camera to work in ports 6 or 7, but port 5 has started working.
