I’m not sure it will work. In my example, the HIKVISION protocol was being used between the DVR and NVR. Both devices need to be connected to the router or a switch so they are in the same network as the communication happens over the network
yep, all recordings and config will be lost (don't ask me how I know!)
You can backup the config easy enough and then restore it, but you won't get your recordings back
Understand - but don't forget, the M series came with Version 4, and it's been very stable on version 4 - we are talking about an enhancement to what we had purchased already. I still think the device is worth its money, but not when running v5 yet!
was just going to post about the same issue, I did an upgrade from .12 to .15 and got the problem.
I removed 12 and 15, did a clean install and a clean setup again just to be sure, and same problem

Wholeheartedly agree with all these comments - shocking really. Hik need to sharpen their pencil and get fixing, but I cant seem them wanting to redesign the GUI again so fear we will be stuck with the disjointed menus.

yeah, I tried rebooting after, still the same, it was a clip that had recorded on the new firmware, don't know if that makes a difference (I wasn't playing back anything from earlier today if you get me)
Ive given up and regressed back to 4.63.025
P33d off with the few things I found already, the remote playback has killed it for me.
If anyone is thinking of upgrading, my advice is to backup your current system and make sure you still have your old firmware available before you do in case you...

Hik Connect gets an alert as normal, click on the alert to playback the video and the content is very choppy, not watchable.
Found the PTZ stuff, that's a bit convoluted.
From the live view grid (not sure about anyone else, but my live view runs in full screen so no options on the left hand side
You double click the camera you want to view to make it full screen
Then you have to right click, and exit full screen so...
