5MP ColorVU smart light setup

Hi people recently setup a 3 5mp ColorVu cameras (DS-2CE10HFT-F), seemed straight forward enough, but under the camera sub menu, smart light>mode, it gives you 2 options mode 1 or mode 2, but no where in the install manual does it describe what the setting does? can anyone shine any light on it for me? TIA

As we only offer their IP camera range we have not come across this.
