Hi, I would like to ask what is the difference of setting up a smart event via nvr or directly from the camera menu.
I noticed that in intrusion detection for example, if you set the area from the camera menu it gives you the option of multi point (shape) area, but if I try to set it from nvr menu it gives me only 4 points (rectangle shape).
Also I have noticed that in the camera menu has more options than nvr. For example image settings has much more option if I login to the camera directly in relation to the nvr menu in remote configuration of course.
Thank you

It's the same. Whatever you set on the NVR is carried out and saved on the Camera. The issue is that older NVRs and firmware versions don't exactly replicate all of the available options in the camera as you've found. The recommended way around this:
  • Set up the intrusion area and any available options on the NVR first
  • Access the camera directly via Virtual Host and alter only the parameters that were not available in your NVRs interface
BTW - The multipoint shape that's available is just for ease of drawing. It gets translated to a multi cell grid as you're seeing in your NVR.

How about do the opposite? If I do the changes-settings in the camera menu will they update to the nvr too? Because for example the "target validity" is not available in my nvr menu. If I change it from my camera menu will this update the nvr although the option is not there? In my case the AcuSense control is done by the camera and not the nvr.

What do you mean "multi cell" where do I find this option? If I try to draw an area in nvr menu it gives me only 4 point option.

Not immediately and that causes confusion to many users as they see settings that appear to be different when in fact the NVR has not refreshed. You can set it all on the camera then reboot the NVR. When the NVR reboots it will read the new parameters from the connected cameras so that the parameters are in sync. IMHO that's too much of a faff on so I set up what I can in the NVR then do the odd bits like target validity on the camera afterward. Make sure your NVR is up to date on firmware as that can affect which options are available for editing in the UI.

My bad, the multi cell 'grid' is for motion detection rather than intrusion.

Ok... thanks so if I want to set multipoint area I should do it from the camera menu right? Also I noticed that this option is only available to my new cameras 2387g3. My older 2t87g2 doesn't have that option even in camera menu.

If you need that multipoint area yes.

What is the firmware platform and firmware version of the 2T87G2?

Some of them are in V5.5.820 build 231108 (G3 models) and some others are in V5.7.19 build 241207 (G5 models)
I just noticed that in G5 models I can do it but not in G3 models

The G3’s are unlikely to see any future firmware updates so you're restricted to the 4 point shape.

Please check this strange thing in case you know. I currently login from Hik partner pro mobile but this also appears in Hik partner pro web.
If I log to NVR settings and select the intrusion detection of the specific camera it shows me a rectangular shape. If I log to the camera settings directly (not through NVR) it shows me multi point area as also from Hik Connect app.
So what of them is valid and why this happening.
