Historically, I know that Hikvizion had sunsetted the iVMS app for the Apple Mac, leaving Mac users having to run a virtual Windows PC to run the iVMS Software.

What I need to do on my Apple kit is to be able to do is access a recording from the NVR, at a defined window, and if needed download a portion of that video. We've had some unwelcome visitors recently and the need to review is becoming more common.

I've noted that HIK seem to have brought out new software I can seen here, but it looks like none of it can do what I need?

  • Hik-Connect - for End user - Already using this on my iPhone and it doesn't seem to have the capability?
  • HiLook - Now downloaded to the iPhone and Mac and it allows me to view live video and playback recorded video, but no option to select a portion and then download it? Or have I missed something?
  • HikCentral Mobile - Downloaded to my iPhone but can't work out how to log into it
  • iVMS 5260 (found in the iOS App Store) - again I can't manage to log into it.
So will one of the app above work? If so which one? Or am I still stuck with having to use the virtual PC?

Any assistance would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

P.S. Excuse any typos my sight continues to worsen :(

Hi @dbrewood

Unfortunately, Hikvision's support for Mac/iOS has not improved and the Virtual PC method you mentioned is probably still the most stable method for accessing Hikvision cameras & NVRs.

All of the app versions you've mentioned above are essentially different versions of Hik-Connect, designed for pairing with various hardware/software (e.g. the HiLook app is for HiLook NVRs & cameras, while HikCentral apps are for use with the paid-for HikCentral VMS).

In the end I found these instructions for the HIK-Connect App, but after following those I still get stuck:

So it looks like I will be stuck using the virtual PC. Not good news at all.
