I'm trying to add 2x new IPC-T221H-M PoE turrets to a HiLook NVR-108-B/8P. They power up and menu PoE information menu shows normal power draw around 2W but stuck on "Detecting" in the IP Camera screen and no pic ofc

Also an existing camera shows normal power draw but a warning triangle in IP Camera screen and error message "IP camera does not exist."

Nothing's been reset and the additional cameras were new and haven't been connected to anything else as yet.

Any ideas?

Hi @dcntech

We don't have much hands-on experience with the HiLook range, but we have seen a similar issue with the main Hikvision range that we figured out was related to the NVR having a weak activation password set that the cameras were not accepting when activating via Plug & Play.

Seeing as your HiLook NVR model is older (when I searched for it online it came up as EOL) and the cameras are newer, it could be that the new cameras have the improved security measures that won't allow the cameras to be activated with a weak password.

There should be an option in the NVR camera menus to change the default/activation password for directly connected cameras, you should try changing this password to a strong password that includes at least 3 of the following characters - uppercase, lowercase, numbers, special characters - and then try connecting the new cameras again.
