Just attempted to upgrade my AX PRO hikvision and it's bounced back an error...
Any ideas?

There is a chance I did something wrong, but going by firmware issues with other devices I would suggest you leave this update for now.

I upgraded my DS-PWA96-M-WE yesterday via a PC browser and whilst it appears to work flawlessly, I've since spent hours trying to fix everything.

Issues:
  • Browser Web UI showed "v1.3.0 Build 241224" but both Hik-Connect and Hik-Partner phone apps stated v1.2.9 and prompted to update.
  • All devices and peripherals disappeared from Browser Web UI, Hik-Connect and Hik-Partner phone apps, but were visible via Browser Hik-Partner Web UI.
  • All attempts to add them again failed without providing any useful errors/information.
  • WiFi connection kept dropping out every few minutes and then after some time the device just wasn't visible on the network.
  • Had to either restart it or connect it via a network cable in order to access the Browser Web UI again.
  • Tried downgrading back to v1.2.9 and Web UI suggested it worked but all of the above issues were still present.
  • Decided to just do a Factory Reset via Web UI, but it didn't actually wipe anything. Attempting it via phone apps didn't do anything either.
  • Eventually used the physical reset button.
I've literally just finished going round the house and readding the peripherals using their QR codes. Still need to reshare with other users, set their permissions, access codes and key fobs. Also need to reconfigure all the IP Camera/NVR rules.

In hindsight, I should have taken a backup first. Given all the issues, who knows whether restoring the backup would have even worked. Everything was working as expected before so not touching it would definitely have been the best option.
