Can AcuSense DVR provide smart detection with regular HDTVI cameras?

Hi,

Can an AcuSense DVR perform human and vehicle detection using standard analog HDTVI cameras, or are smart IP cameras required for that?

In other words:
Does the DVR handle the analytics, or must the cameras themselves support smart features?

I just want to understand how detection works in analog vs IP setups. Which one should I choose, which one is better, should I rely on DVR or are the cameras the important role in smart functions etc.

Thanks!

Yes.

With analogue HDTVi systems, the cameras just send video back to the DVR and the DVR does all
of the AcuSense processing. I can grab an AcuSense DVR and upgrade an existing analogue system with it to gain the smart features. That’s the main benefit of HDTVi.

An NVR with IP cameras will always be better. Previously with DVRs/HDTVi you were restricted to motion detection or smart (line crossing/intrusion) events. The latest DVRs are a little more versatile allowing you to mix event types within the DVRs capabilities. However an NVR and AcuSense cameras will work better as each camera is doing the processing. It’s more expensive but you get what you pay for.
