Can you playback when ip camera is offline

I have a hikvision dvr unit. sometimes one or several ip cameras go offline during the day.
I wanted to playback on a offline camera to see whether my staff had tamper3d with the cameras.

I found that you can only playback if you plug the camera back in and showing online.

is there a software that can search the harddrive and playback the offline camera recordings.

pointless ip system if u cannot playback recordings.
what if the cameras were stolen .you would want to see who stole them by accessing the dvr harddrive

Hi,
What is recorded should stay recorded, and you should be able to play it back from your NVR.
At least I am assuming that is the case - it should be.
Use Internet Explorer.
Access your NVR.
Go to playback.
Select the camera.
Etc.
