HDD maybe dead?

Hi!
I've got the DS-7608NI-I2/8P NVR

I've suddenly been unable to access any of my recordings, clicking on the record tab freezes everything, then clicking on the live view tab brings it back after a few seconds.

The instant recall feature on Live doesn't work.

I've tried to do various tasks through my PC access & thought I had finally achieved a HDD format although my screen showed the progress bar stuck at 90%

I finally switched off/on the NVR

Through the NVR interface on the TV, it then appeared to show a full free volume on the HDD but wanted me to initialise it which I did.

It then showed abnormal status

Back to the PC software I tried to access recordings, there were some for the period this morning that the NVR appeared to work - tried to down load the small files; progress was very slow & did not finish

I'm running a self test through the HDD detection which is stuck on 10%

I'm sure I can hear the NVR bleeping every now & then?

I'm now convinced the HDD is shot but could there be any other tests to prove that before I buy?

Regards

Thanks, I guessed so.

Will that be a straight replacement & initialize or is it plug & play?
Open the NVR, unplug and replace the HDD. Once powered up again just go to the Storage Management page, tick the box to the left of the drive details and click initialise. Job done.

Hi! Sorry to come back to you, I've got the replacement HDD. Silly question I know but do the 8 camera leads have to go back into the NVR in the same order they came out?

Ideally, yes. By default the camera channels are set up as 'plug and play'. If you put them back in a different order, the NVR will see the camera as a new device on the channel and overwrite the programming. It'll still work but you may have to redo the settings on each camera to get them back how they were (and obviously your cameras won't follow the same number to location sequence)

Thanks, here's to labels 1-8 then!!

Best regards
