Hello all,

I want to add the ANPR camera IDS-2CD7A46G0/P-IZHS to my current system and would like a bit of a guide line on howto set up License plate recognition.

my system consists of:
- NVR: DS-7608NXI-I2/8P/S(E) bought 6 months ago
- Camera's: 4 x DS-2CD2387G2H bought 6 months ago

I have connected the ANPR to the NVR, and at a first glance it is operating fine. I can see video shows and zooming works.

Problems I run into:
- Don't seem to be able to setup ANPR directly within the NVR. Do I need to connect remotely first? The video screens are black (no video) when I connect remotely.
- ANPR camera has software from 2024 (will check the exact version later). will an update solve the black screen?
- I did find 2 pdf files here, but these seems to have an older interface and doesn't seem to correspond with my system.

- Do I need to set it up within the NVR under VCA? not much experience yet with this.

I hope to get a bit of an answer here on how to proceed.
Thanks in advance, information here is great !

I normally setup the view/lane lines from the actual NVR native monitor/mouse as you need the camera view to setup the lanes. Even with new cameras/nvr and latest firmware for whatever reason HikVision can't seem to display camera views on some (possibly any?) browsers. They may supply a .exe browser plugin to work around that but I don't like installing random admin-level .exe from China into my browser. So I have long given up on expecting HikVision views to work in browsers. Some HikVision camera views seem to work fine in browsers but others do not, I have no idea why.

Everything else can be setup or changed later via the camera web interface (best way) or some settings can probably be done via the NVR web interface - but the settings will probably not be the same between the two interfaces - welcome to the wonderful world of HikVision firmware...

My tips for capturing the most plates:
1) Have the optical zoom zoomed in as much as practical for your setup.
2) To capture the most plates at night you may need to set a fast exposure (I use 1/2000) but with a high exposure the normal night-time image will be completely black. You may have to experiment with exposure to decide what works best for you and your needs.

I usually have a normal camera in addition to an ANPR, e.g. ANPR zoomed on plates with high exposure and a normal camera for capturing the general day/night scene.
