Door Entry KV6113-WPE1(C) night vision and network configuration?

Hello everyone,

I have a setup with a KV6113-WPE1(C) and a KH6320WTE1 indoor station, both connected and powered via a PoE switch. What I recently discovered is that the indoor KH6320WTE1 also supports Wi-Fi, which I successfully connected, allowing me to add the KV6113 to Hik-Connect by scanning the QR code. I do know wifi is not the best option however, I'm unable to connect my main router to the PoE switch since there’s no LAN cable running to that location. I do get the notification within the hikconnect app now and everything seems to be working.

I’d like to add the KV6113 to my NVR to use it as an additional camera. Currently, both devices have static IPs assigned (the PoE switch does not provide DHCP).

KV6113 - 192.0.0.65
KH6320 - 192.0.0.64

The KH6320 is also connected via Wi-Fi and has a LAN IP in the main router’s range (192.168.1.x).

My questions are:

  1. If I assign static LAN IPs from the main subnet (192.168.1.x) to the KV6113 and KH6320 while they are connected to the PoE switch (which lacks WAN access), with the KH6320 connected to the internal WLAN, will I be able to add the KV6113 as an additional camera on the NVR? Or could it still work if they remain in a different subnet (e.g., 192.0.0.x)? I haven't tested this yet.
  2. The night vision quality is quite poor, despite having a street light nearby. I also notice two lights (IR?) in the video feed. When someone moves closer to the camera, they become visible, but overall visibility isn't great. What settings can I adjust to improve the night vision? I saw a YouTube video where the setup even illuminated the room!
Thanks in advance!

Just add your doorbell to NVR by its IP address, doesnt needs to be connected to PoE of NVR it can be on any PoE switch.

You have 2 choices, Add Manually or Auto (PoE plug and play)

Sorry for any confusion. The doorbell is connected to a PoE switch, but the PoE switch isn't connected to any network since I can't run a cable to it. Additionally, the indoor station (KH6320WTE1) is connected to both the PoE switch and Wi-Fi, allowing me to view the KV6113 through the KH6320WTE1's connection.

The KV6113 is currently in a different VLAN, as mentioned in my first post. I'll be changing the IPs to match the same subnet today, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to access it from the home network -> indoor station (Wi-Fi) -> PoE switch -> KV6113.

Thanks.

Ah now i understand.

They can remain on 192.0.0.X they work on 2 networks.Wired network to comunicate between each other and wifi to enter another subnet.

So you can leave them be at 192.0.0.64 and 192.0.0.65

Connect both to wifi, and they will receive 2 additional ip addresses from different subnet.

Add door station to NVR by adding manually Wifi ip address.
And indoor station wifi to be accessed via HC app.

Is this what you wanted to know?

Hi, yes, thank you. That’s how it would work... unfortunately, there’s no Wi-Fi coverage where the outdoor KV6113 unit is located.

Without adding additional AP or running additional cables, i don't see a way to make it all work just over indoor station wifi.

Perhaps you can experiment, if your door station got a LiveWire nearby and its same LiveWire as for router, you could use PowerLink, to send network over livewire.

If its a household, you would be better running a mesh or extender with tp link or such, to extend wifi coverage.

Thanks. I will try to arrange wifi coverage for that area or connect the POE switch to the internal LAN. The image for nightvision has cleared up (dont ask - I didnt remove the protective film). So all is clear now.
