New install - can we view two connected school sites NVRs?

I have got the ok for us to upgrade our cctv in our school now the “lower school“ has some really old cctv so will be a complete new install so thinking 32ch NVR with ip cameras. Now the upper school is slightly different where it has an DVR but does have some Ip cameras connected to it via a switch. So this would be removed and another 32 ch NVR fitted the current ip cameras connected and some more installed . Now this is where it gets interesting as the two parts of the school are approx half a mile apart one at the top of the hill and the other at the bottom. They are connected via a fibre link so the whole school is on “one network”. Is there a way for the people upstairs to view the NVR downstairs and vice versa?

If both NVRs are actually on the same IP range then you can access both NVRs at the same time from both sites by installing Hikvision iVMS-4200 software on PCs at both sites. Once both NVRs are added to the software you can then customize the live view layout each site sees. (e.g. top hill site layout can focus on top hill site cameras and have bottom hill site cameras as smaller windows or on a second page)

Thanks for the quick reply!! the only problem is they won’t have a pc to access as we would directly access through the NVR and a monitor at each site.

Ok, in that case, I think the only way you could do it would be to have both NVRs at both sites large enough to support all the cameras on the site, top and bottom. (e.g. if you had 30 cameras at the bottom of the hill and 30 at the top you would need 2 x 64-channel NVRs at both sites so that you can connect the 30 local cameras and the 30 cameras over the fibre connection)

With all the cameras added to both NVRs, you would then be able to view them all on a direct monitor and design the live view layout for each site as described above.

How many monitors were you wanting to use? Even the largest Hikvision NVRs (64 channels and above) only support 2 direct monitors and they can only be on short runs of HDMI cable. This kind of setup would be very limiting for such a large site.
