I'm looking into setting up a CCTV system to monitor the exterior of my house. The neighbours car was recently vandalised during the night so that has spurred me on to get this sorted.
3 cameras should suffice, two to the front and one to the rear (at least for the time being)
The front wall of the property is approx. 10m to the centre of the road and there are some street lighting on the opposite side. I'd like to be able to read car number plates as they pass the house at night if possible.
The rear garden extends approx. 25m. with very little lighting.
WiFi cameras aren't really an option as the network can be temperamental at times so would prefer an independent system.
After doing a fair bit of research, I have a few questions.
I've seen DVR's sold for/with POE cameras, is this an actual thing as I thought all POE cameras only work with NVR's?
Can a NVR connect both POE cameras and wireless cameras at the same time? (access for cabling to the rear of the house will be a nightmare)
Can turret cameras be mounted sideways on a wall? rather than horizontally under soffits etc.
Would this restrict the turrets movement/field of view?
I'm sure i'll think of a few more questions soon.
Thanks for all the help.
