Hi all, I'm hoping you can help.

My DVR is beeping and it's saying no footage found.

There is a red icon here as well.

Thanks

Thanks @bline86

If you access the DVR with that direct monitor, can you please check the DVR logs in the maintenance menu for any error messages that might relate to storage/HDDs?

I'm not sure where that option is, but under storage it says this. There is a regular repeated beeps from the DVR as well

Thanks @bline86

As I thought, it looks like you might have a faulty HDD. Does the storage menus give you an option to test the HDD?

Can you please share a screenshot/photo of the whole screen so I can see all the storage menus?

Thanks @bline86

If you click the 'i' symbol in the top right of the screen do you get a pop-up with the System Info and is the 'more' link at the bottom of that pop-up window?

If there is, can you click the 'more' link which should take you to the maintenance menu with the option to search the recorder's logs?

Can you please set the search time to a period when you first noticed the storage problem, set the Major Type to "Exception", leave the Minor Type as "Select All", and then click search?

Please share a photo of the log results after you've completed the search.

Found where you mean now. I've chosen 19th to 20th and clicked exception.

Okay,

It might just be a glitch with the HDD because I would expect you to get a log for a "HDD Error" if it was faulty or had completely failed.

Maybe first try the "Repair Database" option, as you will see from your previous image, the warning states that doing this won't destroy any footage on the HDD. Try this and see if this repairs the glitch that is stopping you from accessing footage.

Ho Dan, I've tried that and it doesn't do anything. All that leaves to try is initialisation, which will erase all of HDD. Is that the next step to try?

Hi @bline86

Yes, the next step would be formatting the HDD.

If the repair hasn't worked then that likely means that the HDD is faulty, it might not be completely faulty so if you format the HDD it might start recording again and you'll just have to leave it and see how long the HDD runs without any errors.

If you do see this same error again sometime after formatting, that would probably mean the HDD has a major fault and you will have to pursue either warranty replacement or purchasing a new HDD.

Hi,

I've tried initilisation and it goes 1% and 20% then back to abnormal. I think I will contact Connectec to request a new hard drive. I've only had it since Jan 2023

Okay,

If the HDD is failing to format then that probably means there is a major fault with the HDD, as the HDD is just over a year old it should be within warranty and Connectec should be able to supply you with a replacement.
