Hi all,

I'm settling up remote CCTV cameras and I have a problem to supply my Ubiquiti dome with 24v POE.
I can't find a POE switch that can be supplied with my 24v batteries.

When I tried to power the Ubiquiti using the #4 and 5 of the RJ45 I blew my network switch.

Did I use the wrong wires on the RJ 45 or is it not possible to do it that way?

I will really appreciate some advice.

Cheers
JJ

The POE camera will expect the network connection / POE supply to be in a very particular format (the IEEE802.3a_ Standard).

You'll need to source either a specialist POE switch that can be powered by your 24V batteries and produce POE to the standard, such as this example:

Or, use an inverter with your batteries to develop mains voltage and use a standard mains-powered POE switch.
