Hello Chaps

Finally replaced my 7608k28p with the equivalent M series. Swapped cameras fine, no issues. Thanks JB for your advice about 12 months ago. (Takes me a long time to get round to stuff).

The only question I have. I can't seem to find the motion detection settings for each camera in the nvr GUI. On the old K that I ran 3.0 on without upgrading to 4, it was obvious as it said motion and then you could select squares on the live feed for each camera to refine the detection area.

That's what I'm looking for on the M series. Not yet upgraded from version 4.0 software.

Grateful if somebody could help.

It depends whether you're doing it on the local interface or using a browser. On the local interface click the Config (gear wheel) icon then Events (I think...I'm on V5 so can't remember exactly but it should be fairly obvious). Using a web browser it's Configuration > Event > Basic Event > Motion (tab)

Spot on found it. Thank you very much JB. Does lead to another question though.

On playback with version 3 I could see green motion detection lines on the timeline. Can't see any of these now on any cameras. Whether this be normal view or smart view. I have confirmed that motion detection is being logged.

In the local UI - go into the storage menu > advanced (I think) and there's a tick box that's off by default "Save camera VCA data". Tick that and the markers should begin to populate for future events.

Thank you again I'll give that one a go.

Good Morning.

JB. When you have motion enabled what shows in the timeline in "normal" view. What colour.

With the V3 software it was green markers spanning the duration of the movement. I don't have these in v4 I only have a continuous record blue line. I want continuous record.

In v4 smart playback I do have red event markers that correspond to the motion activation. ( I note that in recording schedule the motion marker is green not red.)

Motion is working therefore it's just not displaying as I thought it would.

If this is normal and how it is now with the M series this leads to further questions.

Thanks.

I have V5 so it's different. When selecting normal playback, the AcuSense Human and Vehicle filter icons are selected by default. That gives a solid blue line for the continuous recording with red event markers denoting all events that match 'Human' or 'Vehicle' (as defined in the motion detection setup). If I deselect those filters the markers disappear, as my events are setup to Human/Vehicle only.

In V4 Normal Playback the Human filter is deselected by default and I would've seen a solid blue timeline. Selecting the Human icon would populate the timeline with markers and then I could tick the skip normal box tp jump between those events.

All of the above is based on using AcuSense cameras with Human and/or Vehicle applied on the event setup. On V4/V5 if they were non AcuSense cameras Normal Playback wouldn't show the events at all. That's expected as the event doesn't contain Human or Vehicle metadata. In that case you can either use Event Playback which will populate the timeline with all events that triggered or do a VCA search where you draw a line on the image to show anything that crossed it. I'm no fan of V5 and preferred V4. V5 has changes that spoil ease of use but it is what it is.

Thank you JB. I do now have motion sorted. I hadn't realised these were now being shown as event in red as opposed to motion in green so they were there all the time on the smart button. The other thing that complicated matters was how Hik had changed the way views are accessed. If you remember there was a button top left on the 3.0 that had the options for normal/smart combined and then you would select another button by the timeline for smart or normal. I suppose it's an improvement in 4.0 but things are not explained very well by hikvision in their manuals.

Still having issues with a few other things that i will post about if I cannot resolve them after upgrading all of the camera software to latest stable versions.

Cheers
