Can anyone explain the difference between the 96 and 77 series NVRs (in the M series)?
Based on the specs, the 96 series features RAID, has 8 SATA bays instead of 4, and the case is bigger. Is that it? Or does the 96 series have a more power processor for faster searches, loading playback clips, etc.?

Hi @gasongasoff

The above are some of the obvious differences between the 96 & 77 Series NVRs but other differences include the 96 Series models support a larger number of channels/cameras (e.g. the 77 Series only goes up to 32-channels/cameras and the 96 Series starts at 64-channels/cameras and goes up from there).

The other difference is that as you go from smaller 77 Series models to larger 96 Series models the amount of incoming bandwidth they support increases to keep up with the more cameras you are connecting.

In regards to whether there are any processor or hardware upgrades, we can't say for sure because Hikvision does not provide this level of detail in their spec sheets but we would assume that the DS-96128NI-M16 128-channel model would have more powerful hardware than the DS-7732NI-M4 32-channel NVR simply because the 96 model is designed to handle more cameras.
