Camera swap nightmare!

Hi! I've been upgrading several of my cameras recently without any issues.

However, the latest swop is throwing up an orange triangle stating "The Network is unreachable"

Can anyone help me resolve this issue?

Thanks in anticipation!

Hi @Gwladok

Please provide more details.

What NVR model do you have and what firmware version is it running?
What was the old camera model and what camera model are you replacing it with?
Are the cameras you are replacing connected directly to the NVR PoE ports or to separate PoE Injectors/Switches on the local network?
Is the camera displaying the "The Network is Unreachable" error a different replacement model to the earlier ones that swapped without a problem?

Hi Dan

NVR is DS-7608N1-12/8 running with firmware V4.61.030 Bld 240123

Original camera was 2cd2385FWD-1 replaced with 2CD2146G2 - 1SU

All 7 cameras connected directly to NVR PoE ports

Just one of the earlier swops was a 2cd2146G2 -1SU again replacing a 2385FWD, no issues

Thanks @Gwladok

Can you please share a screenshot/photo of the camera management menu in the NVR showing the connected cameras and the one showing the error message?

Was the problem 2146G2 camera fresh out of the box and inactive or had you tested it on a separate PoE Injector/Switch before adding it to the NVR?

You say only two of the cameras are 2146G2, what other new camera models have you added to the NVR?

Hi Dan

Screenshot as requested

When the camera was first switched it said incorrect username & password

At the time I had a spare 2146G2 from a different supplier which also gave the same error

After I re-input user name & password I then got the network is unreachable.

A previous swop involved a 2385Gi-1 replacing a 2385FWD-1

Regards

Thanks @Gwladok

You say "After I re-input user name & password I then got the network is unreachable", where did you input the username & password?

Okay,

So when you click that 'edit' button, is the problem camera set to 'Manual' or 'Plug & Play'?

Okay,

Unplug the problem cameras, change the channels to 'Plug & Play', and then try plugging the cameras in again.

Morning Dan, thanks for staying with me!

It's gone from "detecting the IP camera" to say "user name or password is incorrect"

However, in P & P mode the password box is greyed out

Thanks @Gwladok

I'm just trying to understand what you've done with this camera because it's not usually normal to manually add cameras to the NVR when you are plugging them into the NVR PoE ports.

You say you always use the same username & password for the cameras, so in the case of this new camera did you take it out of the box, plug it into a separate PoE Injector/Switch, set the username, password, and IP address using SADP, and then move the camera to the NVR PoE ports and manually add the camera to the NVR?

No, the installer simply unplugged the old camera, replaced it, then plugged the new one in (outside the house).

Previous swops appeared to pick up the existing username & password of the old cameras and worked normally.

At the time, as I had a spare camera (same type), I got the installer to try attaching that one but the same message came up.

Okay,

I think what has complicated things is that at some point in the past, someone has set some of your NVR channels/ports to 'Manual' and left some to 'Plug & Play'.

This was most likely because you or whoever was handling the NVR at the time was having some kind of issue with the NVR password that is used to activate the cameras and so most likely the installer manually configured some of your old cameras with a specific password in SADP and then added the cameras to the NVR manually using this password (which might not be the password you currently use).

Can you physically reach the new camera you are trying to add to the NVR or has the installer already put them up outside out of reach?

Do you have a separate PoE Injector/Switch that you could plug the new camera into?

Do you have a strong password set on the NVR? (don't say what the password is but just confirm if the password includes at least 3 of the following - lowercase, uppercase, numbers, and special characters)

Hi Dan

The camera is in place up outside!!

I have a spare port 8 on the NVR which currently says "User locked"

The Admin password is 8 characters, 6 letters, 2 numbers all lower case

Okay,

I thought I was just about getting my head around how you had your system configured, but then I remembered something you said earlier on and it has confused me again:
Just one of the earlier swops was a 2cd2146G2 -1SU again replacing a 2385FWD, no issues

This other 2146G2 that did connect successfully, when you click the 'edit' button for this channel, is this one set to 'Manual' or 'Plug & Play'?
