I recently upgraded my NVR from the DS-7616NI-M2/16P to the IDS-7716NXI-M4/X and I was wondering how I can set up the ANPR and Facial Recognition features that the NVR has built in.

I currently have x3 Hybrid Colorvu Turrets (DS-2CD2347G2H-LIU) and x1 Dome PTZ (DS-2DE4A225IWG-E) connected via poe switch.

From my understanding you don’t need dedicated ANPR/LPR and Facial Recognition cameras to use these features, similar to the Acusense NVR series applying Acusense features to Non-Acusense cameras.

I haven't used that NVR but I believe you're correct. You would keep your Acusense motion detection, line crossing, intrusion running on the cameras (AI by Camera/VCA by camera) and set up the features that aren't supported by the camera (facial recognition) on the NVR directly. I'd imagine how well it'll work is going to depend on the existing camera views; 2.8mm/4mm lenses capturing a wide angle view may not provide sufficient pixel density of a face or number plate for reliable captures. I've been considering an identical upgrade of my own system for a while.
