Hi, I got a question that couldn't find any answer: If my NVR has 1ch 4K decoding capability but like 16ch 1080p decoding capability, does it means that recording is being affected too? Like, if there are more cameras are going to be recorded in lower resolution? Thank you for the help.

Hi @JuanPiPPR

The decoding capability has nothing to do with recording.

decoding is to do with the live view, the stream of each camera is compressed/encoded when transmitting to the NVR and when that stream reaches your NVR it is decoded for you to see the live view. So decoding capability is how many camera streams of a specific resolution can simultaneously be decoded for you to live view.

If your NVR says 1ch@4K that means you can only live view one camera in 8MP/4K at a time, but if the NVR supports enough incoming bandwidth it is technically possible to record all cameras in 8MP/4K.
