Hikvison sub camera stream

The url ending with "picture" is used to grab a snapshot.

For a video stream the url should be:
http://<IP address of IPC>:<HTTP port>/Streaming/channels/102/httpPreview

The ":<HTTP port>" part of the url is only required if you have changed the port from the default setting of 80.

I believe that you can only fetch an MJPEG stream via http.
Try changing the sub-stream CODEC to MJPEG.
You should be able to set the resolution of that MJPEG as you prefer.

Also, please check that your camera is running the latest available firmware (V5.5.82):

Hi Phil

Thanks for the reply, I’ve updated the camera as per your recommendation. I now found out from the manufacture gogogarage that they don’t support live stream only photo images. I’m therefore currently using the following to try an speed up the image display.

http://IPADDRESS/ISAPI/Streaming/Channels/102/picture?videoResolitionWidth=320&videoResolutionHight=240

This does provide an image, however there is a bit of a delay between when I start opening the garage door and once it’s complete. I was trying to find out if there is a way of speeding up the images displayed via the URL. It you have any other ideas please do let me know.

This URL shows you what I am aiming for, but the images that are displayed in this video are must fast than I’m seeing on my camera feed.

This may help / improve the interaction between the camera and your other system.

Try logging-in to your camera's Configuration area and:
1. Enabling Hikvision-CGI
2. Selecting 'digest/basic'
3. Don't forget to Save

Enable Hikvision CGI 23-1-19.png

An explanation from the camera's contextual Help info:

You can also try setting the Authentication settings as per the below:

Basically 'Digest' is a more complex method of authentication that Hikvision introduced with/for their Hik-Connect service.
The lesser 'digest/basic' setting may be helpful for other interfaces.

Sadly, setting the sub stream to MJPEG makes my cameras lose connection to my 2nd gen video intercom [DS-KD8003-IME1]. It shows a black screen with the message: "Live view failed - encoding type not supported". It obviously uses the sub stream to display the video on the systems little indoor stations.

Hikvision support just confirmed to me: "Unfortunately this device does not support MJPEG stream, it only supports H.264 and we do not have a solution for it."

Why cripple expensive kit? Maybe RTSP could get around this?

Guys, does anybody know how to get substream snapshot ( not stream ) ?

Thank's Phil, i allready read this. But there is no URL for substream snapshot (not stream), or am I missing something?
