How to Initialise a CCTV HDD in Windows for Footage Recovery?

Does anyone know how to properly initialise or access a CCTV hard drive in Windows? I’m trying to recover footage using the local playback tool, but the drive isn’t showing up normally. Any guidance on how to make Windows read it (without wiping the data) would be appreciated.

I posted this a week ago - Best way to save 10 days of footage from Hikvision NVR (DS-7616NI-Q2)? and a member posted helpful information but I was not able to get it to initialise.
