VPro (Acuseek) NVR - First Impressions

The support engineer has managed to replicate it on his system and thinks that it was working fine until updating to iOS 26...I'm fairly sure the delays started before I updated.

Other than the notification delays how has the unit been since it froze that time?
Fine, its never froze again. From M series to I-Vpro with its reduced bandwidth (192 Mbps on my 16 channel model), no performance issues. I've got:

7 x 8MP cameras running at 25FPS, H264 CBR 16 Mbps
2 x 4MP cameras running at 25FPS, H264 CBR 8 Mbps
1 x (crappy EZVIZ) 2MP WiFi camera running at 15FPS, H265 VBR 1 Mbps

That totals 129Mbps. The networks stats show I'm using 146Mbps.

So all good, but the notifications issue is a bummer. The Hikvision support guy has gone radio silent on me. Strangely it's improved a little; the 25 to 35 seconds seems to have reduced to below 15 but it's still no good.

Just had a 'case closed' e mail from Hikvision. It seems to be working better but with a lot of inconsistency; sometimes 12 seconds, other times under 3 seconds.

Had another issue yesterday. An unexplainable failure of the AcuSearch function. AcuSeek continued to work normally but on local UI, web UI and Hik-Connect AcuSearch would fail to find any targets to search despite there being people and vehicles in view. The photos below show the setup with both engines in use - one for AcuSearch, one for AcuSeek and all channels enabled:

On the local UI a message of 'failed to find target' or similar was displayed, on Hik-Connect it just timed out while the web UI displayed 'Analysis engine error' after a short time. The image shown below is the result of a successful AcuSeek search followed by the AcuSearch icon being clicked on the result. In the local UI and Hik-Connect it would not recognise that there were any targets present to search:

I didn't try a normal reboot, but a shutdown and power cycle from the local UI resolved the issue.

I was just about to say I wonder if a power cycle would bring it back to life and then I saw you said that at the very bottom of your post.

Did you format the hard disks in the end?

No I didn't bother.

Currently trying to find out whether a Hik-Connect AcuSearch issue (video tagged plus one hour) is a VPro firmware issue or Hik-Connect app issue..

FWIW... I have been experiencing this push notification delay with my M series as I explained in the Hik-Connect 6.10.x thread.
It settled back down to sub 3 seconds for a while, but today for some reason its back to a 40+ second delay.
The inconsistency is frustrating.

Yeah same. Initially was consistently delayed, now it’s just inconsistent. They did get back to me and confirm they’re still looking into this and my AcuSearch issue

08-10-25 Another Web server crash. To replicate login via web then:

  • Go to Event Center > Event Configuration > Rule Configuration tab
  • Click the 'Go to Camera Remote Configuration' link
  • 'Starting redirect service' is displayed for a time
  • Pop up box with 'Starting redirect service failed. Please try again later' is displayed
  • Click 'OK' to acknowledge
  • Web server freezes
A reboot is required to restore the web server

@JB1970 Seems like you've had a frustrating experience with this NVR, have most of the issues been fixed now? Do you feel this is really worth double the price of the non VPRO version?

I'm in need to upgrade my older DS-7608NXI-I2/8P/S as HikConnect doesn't support it over port forwarding due to requiring SDK v3+. It still works over iVMS-4500 / HikConnect but push notifications are no longer working and no idea how much longer their going to work for considering they've been discontinued.

Newer firmware has been released that adds some features that I've not posted about yet and I've not tested to see if the web server crash can still be triggered as detailed in #50 above. The other issues remain. The notification delay is still ongoing but I don't know whether that's a Hik-Connect issue or an NVR firmware issue (it's an open case with Hikvision support).

The jury is out on that one for now. The new firmware adds motion 2.0 and perimeter detection to the available algorithms that can be used. When released that wasn't available so you couldn't apply AcuSense motion 2.0 or smart events to non AcuSense cameras (the way you can on all other NXI models). However as there are only two engines you have to choose between having AcuSeek and AcuSearch for your AcuSense compatible cameras OR add AcuSense capability (AI by NVR) for standard non AcuSense cameras.

Hello.
Can you share a download link to the firmware?
I currently running V5.04.070 build 250828 on it, which is publicly available latest build
Through hik-partner portal they offer only V5.04.050 build 250124, which is even older
Having issue to enable AccuSense. Can not link to cameras.

If you put your serial number into the Hik Partner Pro app it should return the latest version. I noticed further up the thread that a user with the 8 channel model had an upgrade file that was a far smaller file size than the same build of firmware for my 16 channel model (DS-7616NXI-M2/16P/VPro). So you would need to be careful and ensure that teh firmware Wass suitable for your specific model variant.

The latest version for mine (from the HPP app) is 5.05.361_250929. That version adds AcuSense AI by NVR, whereas the previous builds only supported AI by camera (requiring AcuSense cameras). This is the version I'm running:

Thanks for the link
That was exactly the issue, that by serial number latest offered version is V5.04.050 build 250124
I Also found on AU region hikvision site V5.05.361_250929 version with 1,28 gb in size. The only thing is that it is listed under DS-7616NXI-I2/16P/VPro, as they do not have DS-7616NXI-I2/S at all.

as they do not have DS-7616NXI-I2/S
That is a completely different model and not a 'VPro' - do not attempt to install the firmware I linked!

If HPP shows you the latest version for your model then use only that version. The most likely outcome of attempting to install an incorrect version is that you just get an 'update failed' message. However there is the possibility that it could brick your NVR.

I've got the DS-7732NXI-I4/16P/Vpro in the end but I'm still waiting for the Seagate ST16000VE004 to arrive as they are really hard to source at the moment but one of the only larger drives to be on the approved hard drives list from Hikvision for this NVR. The drives should arrive this week so I'm looking forward to having a play with this unit

I’ve had further issues since my last post.

The delayed notifications seem to be much resolved (case closed by Hikvision support). They’re no longer massively delayed but are still a few seconds behind my workaround which uses the same event from the NVR. I guess some push services are faster/slower than others.

The latest issue I had was loss of motion detection event markers in the playback timeline. This was both in local UI and Hik-Connect. In the web UI event config all cameras show an error ‘not enough resources for motion detection analysis- check engine configuration’. All cameras are AcuSense, so the analysis is done on camera and the NVR engine is correctly configured for Acuseek and AcuSearch and not Motion2.0 as it’s not needed. Firmware was downgraded which required setup from scratch. After reprogramming all cameras motion events it’s working correctly again on the older firmware. However the original web UI error ‘not enough resources….’ remains.

I’ve had this NVR 3 or 4 months now and find it strange that it’s still not available from any of my suppliers (I got the bundle deal). Additionally the new models discussed in Hikvisions presentation that were expected late this year never materialised.

Oh, that’s no good at all. I also jumped on the 50% off deal — it was too tempting to pass up, especially for a 32-channel NVR. I’m starting to wonder whether we’re basically becoming beta testers for this unit, and whether they’re planning to release the proper M-Series version of the VPro here sometime next year instead.

My hard disk order didn’t turn up. I’ve now been told January to April for delivery, so I cancelled it and switched to 3× WD102PURP (10TB) drives instead.

Based on your experience so far, which firmware version would you actually recommend running?
