Greetings,

Problem: My Hikvision camera keeps going back to a specific position (model DS-2DE4A2251W-DE). The said position is useless.

I've seen a similar thread mentioned previously (ref: Thread starter wddossett / Start date Feb 24, 2024 ) and like him/her, I can use the ptz controls to direct the camera to where I want it to look, and I can also use the presets, but after a few seconds, it goes back to this position, but unlike him/her, I cannot physically access the camera at the moment.

Question: The camera is abroad and I can only access it via Hik-connect or iVMS-4200, is there anything I can do to reset the camera through Hik-connect (this would presumably reset tracking etc... )?
NB: I've asked someone to switch the electricity off and on again where the camera is, but the problem hasn't gone away.

Please advise. Thanks.

Hi @Heathrow

It might be possible to perform a hard reset in the camera settings using iVMS-4200, but we wouldn't perform a reset remotely because the reset will also wipe the remote access settings.

You will lose access to the camera and won't be able to reset the remote access settings until you can go to the camera's location and login to it from a PC on the same local network as the camera.

Hi Dan,
Thanks for the fast response.
I'll wait until I'm there then.. How would I go about doing that using iVMS-4200? Is it straight forward? (I don't want to be climbing anything in winter..).

Yes, you just need to go to the Device Management menu in iVMS-4200, click Remote Configuration, go into the camera's Maintenance menu, and there should be a 'Restore All' option to hard reset the camera.

Alternatively, if you are on-site and on the same network as the camera, you can just log in to the camera using its IP address in a browser and then go to Configuration > System > Maintenance and click the 'Restore' button.
