Hello New to the forum and new to CCTV setting up.
On the NVR 7732ni it has two HDMI ports and 1 VGA. We are only using HDMI ports nothing in the VGA. But on the GUI 5.0 I can only see menu output HDMI1/VGA and HDMI2 output. We have tried changing the resolution to all of the options available all higher resolution but get an error message cannot exceed 1080p output. The monitors are connected by ethernet cables and HDMI adaptors all of which were said to support up to 4k. One of our monitors supports up to 2500+ pixels
My questions are 1) why am I seeing a combined option of HDMI1/VGA and not HDMI1 and VGA as separate options (specs state they are separate outputs) 2) if they are combined is there a way of unbinding them?
We have gone into the nvr via SADP and get the same options there.

Thanks @Duckett

So the simple answer in regards to the HDMI/VGA options is that you cannot use these outputs simultaneously, so there is no need to have separate menu options for these different outputs.

If you connected a monitor to the VGA output instead of HDMI1, you would select the HDMI1/VGA option in the menus to set up that monitor.

You can only simultaneously use the HDMI1 & HDMI2 outputs for a dual HDMI monitor setup.

Have you tried connecting one of your monitors directly to the NVR using an HDMI cable?

I think some users have reported issues in past when connecting monitors using certain adaptors or HDMI extenders.

Hi Dan, Tried that but the hdmi1/vga port when plugged directly into the monitor which is the 2500+ monitor, still got the same restriction for VGA output1080. When plugged directly into the HDMI2 port no restrictions. The cable we have running from HDMI 1 going into a ethernet splitter to then run two monitors, one we use as the control which is HDMI and the other is for viewing only elsewhere in the building, again HDMI, though both are running over ethernet because of the distance. Would one of the monitors which is standard HDMI 1920x 1080 be throttle back the signal to the bigger screen?

Thanks @Duckett

If you are trying to connect 2 monitors to a single HDMI output, the output resolution will be limited to the maximum resolution of the lowest resolution.

I think if you have 2 monitors of different resolutions, you will need to use both HDMI1 & HDMI2.

This is actually what we recommend if you have 2 monitors (1 x admin & 1 x viewing only) because you can configure different live view layouts for each monitor and the mouse control can move between screens (which is not the case with 2 monitors connected to the same HDMI output, where any activity on one screen would be duplicated on the 2nd screen).

That was the conclusion we came to. We actually have two buildings being covered and the one with control screen we want to have an additional two screens. not fussed that they will be mirroring the control. So we are going to assume that the image quality will be reduced further with the more monitors. At present each ethernet cable coming out of the splitter is powered via a usb source and they do run for over 20metres. Should we be looking for a more powerful booster system?

Hi @Duckett

We only have limited experience of setting up NVRs with 2 monitors and almost no experience of systems with more than 2 monitors, so off the top of my head, I don't really have any recommendations for anything that would improve the HDMI output.

There might be some other users on the forum who have some experience with multi-monitor systems and can offer some advice.

Hi Dan,
thanks for your help, it helps when you can get some explanation as to why something will not work. I'll look forward to see if anyone else comes on to assist.

NVRs arent design to cover more than 2 monitors really. It kills cpu of nvr to handle normal flow. To handle multiple monitors there is a thing called decoder.

We have powered extenders on each cable going to the each monitor, is that the same thing you are advising?
