nvr shows offline

I’ve been trying to get my Hikvision NVR DS-7616NI set up with my Linksys E2500 router, but it doesn't seem to be connecting. According to Linksys support, the E2500 is considered a "basic router" and suggests I might need to buy a "smart router" for better compatibility. Is that true? Has anyone had issues with this setup or found a workaround? Any help would be appreciated!

Is the DHCP server on the router enabled and the NVR DHCP client enabled?
