Hi, I have a DS-7732NI-I4(B) with 21 cameras. The cameras are plugged via 2 x Hikvision DS-3E1518P-SI POE switches, and a Ubiquiti POE switch. A single network cable connected from the Ubiquiti switch into the NVR. When playback and even trying to view in live 'HD mode' on browser, I keep getting freezing and stuttering playback. Just trying to figure out what the issue could be. I note that there are 2 x network ports on the NVR, should I plug another cable from the Ubiquiti switch into the NVR to improve performance?

The 2 x Hikvision switches are in different parts of the building, and the Ubiquiti switch is located next to the NVR.
Hikvision Switch A: 9 cameras
Hikvision Switch B: 10 cameras
Ubiquiti Switch: 2 cameras

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hi @ranjster

Can you please confirm what firmware version the NVR is currently running?
Can you please confirm which camera models you have connected to the NVR and the quantities of each model?

Hi Dan,

Thanks for the reply
Firmware Version: V4.60.005 build 220108

Camera models:
DS-2CD2387G2H-LIU
Quantity: 16

DS-2CD2387G2H-LISU-SL
Quantity: 5

Thanks

Thanks @ranjster

The first thing I would recommend is updating the NVR firmware as you are several versions behind the latest firmware for this model.

Below are the firmware versions we recommend updating to:

V4.61.000 build220507
V4.61.030 Build240123

Please update to V4.61.000 first before updating V4.61.030

Once you are updated to the latest firmware, check the playback again (Playback might only improve for footage recorded after the firmware was updated).

Hi Dan, I have now updated firmware version to: V4.61.030 build 240123 in the order you advised. I'll check to see how it is now.

By the way, is there any benefit of having the 2nd network port on the NVR connected?

Thanks

How many hhd's do you have installed inside and have you change from quota to group recording? Optimal is 10 cameras per disk, otherwise disk bandwidth of read write is at limit, and its burning out fast.

Side effect is, freezing at playback, slow gui, gaps at footage...

Hi, there are 4 x 8TB. It currently set as the attached image. It seems like its using first disk then next, etc.
Not sure where I change it to group recording?

Thanks

So thats quota, which is hdd killer if there are alot of cameras. You can change it when you add nvr to ivms4200, press configuration icon and click at advanced when it pop. Then you can group cameras in 4 groups, and assign to each hdd one group. Plus if hdd dies, atleast not all the cameras missing

Ah I see, to change to group mode I need to install ivms4200? As I don't have it installed at the moment.
Thx
