Using a remote POE switch for wiring simplification?

I'm looking at getting a NVR with 16 or 32 channels and built-in POE ports. However, I was wondering whether perhaps it would be better to not use these ports and instead route a single ethernet cable to a POE switch in the attic where the 16 cables will connect? The point would be to avoid having to "home run" all 16+ cables back to the NVR.

Of course that creates two other problems:
  • Can I get a POE switch with super temperature tolerance (160F)? Or would I need to tap an AC duct line and provide AC feed for the switch?
  • The switch would need its own AC, so then I'd need to run an AC cord back to the NVR's location, which will be on a dedicated UPS. (I don't think I'd want to maintain a separate UPS.)
So what do professional installers do here? Just do the home run of all 16+ cables?

What you suggest is perfectly standard :)
As you say, it makes for easiest wiring.
I've had a 24-port POE switch in my loft for the last 8 years with no problems.
I chose to have a UPS there with it.
And put it all in a wall-mounted 19" rack.
UK loft, in SE England, probably gets to high 30s °C
