Web UI for DS-7608NI-M2 with 5.0 is unusable

I have recently purchased a new DS-7608NI-M2/8P NVR (with Hikvision Accusense cameras) for use at a remote comms site. As this site is remote we were looking to use the web interface to manage the NVR and view cameras, recordings.

We have set up this NVR over the last week and found the browser (web) remote access to it to be so full of bugs - it is effectively useless for remote usage.

1. We could not get the local web interface to work with encrypted streams - even after using the encryption string. We had to turn encrypted streams off.
2. We cannot get any cameras to display on the live view - yes we have installed the plugin and also pressed the play button but all the streams come up empty. We have tried this across chrome, IE and Edge to no avail. We have also tried UDP and TCP. Ironically they do display when you make each camera full screen.
3. Playback simply does not work. Keep getting errors on the interface when we try and click on the timeline. Playback is also empty but we can see the timer incrementing.

The actual NVR interface seems to work ok (we can see all cameras on the local monitor) - we just cannot get he web interface to work reliably. We have also updated the firmware to the latest version on the Hik website.

Any all this is on a PC. Don't get me started on Hik's lack of Mac support!!!

Can someone give me advice before I launch this thing off the top of the highest building I can find !

I gave up years ago trying to use web browsers for live view/playback - as you have found HikVision support for that is just a joke really.

I use iVMS-4200 for pretty much all local and remote live view/playback.

I have used rtsp streams before successfully for remote live view - e.g. in the cctv-viewer program on Linux or by opening a network stream in VLC Player.

I have not had that much of a problem with the web interfaces for general config stuff. I have some setups over the web, and others over a private VPN. Occasionally I have had problems like the web interface not opening a file browser for firmware updates, and in those cases I have used the HikVision SADP tool.

Caused by:

Chrome / Edge version V139 update causes a white screen in the web video window

Check this thread:

Chromium - Live video feed not visible on Playback or Live View until made fullscreen

3. Playback simply does not work.

After I got live view working again, I thought I was set... I didn't realize playback did not work as I don't use it much on the NVR web GUI.

Playback on the NVR web GUI was working for me at some point in the past, but it is entirely unreliable now... I'm just assuming this started when the Chrome/Edge V139 broke live view... but I am not sure :(

I have played a bit with iVMS but found it clunky.

And it's a pity iVMS for the Mac just does not work any more with Tahoe (and that it has not been updated for years).
