Hi, I bought a Hikvision camera a few years ago so its dumb, Do HKvision do a NVR with People Detection (as its not in my camera)

Also can I record from other (Not HiKvision) Wi-Fi cameras on the same network that have a rtsp feed.

And finally can the NVR send a notification to Home Assistant if People are detected.

Not sure whether to go down a dedicated NVR route on try to install Frigate on an old pc

Regards Dave

Yes. All NVRs with 'NXI' in the part code.

Possibly. Hikvision NVRs support ONVIF and also custom protocols so you can specify the port and url for the RTSP stream (though I've not tried it)
And finally can the NVR send a notification to Home Assistant if People are detected.
I imagine so. I use Hubitat not Home Assistant but have node-red connected to the NVRs event stream in order to trigger virtual motion devices in Hubitat based on alerts.

Thanks for taking the time to reply, bit confused by some of the wording in the Hikvision NVR Spec's.

Can all the NXI models do people detection on all channels. i.e. on the DS-7608NXI-K1/8PAcuSense NVR it says:-

Smart Function
All channels support Motion Detection 2.0
1-ch facial recognition for video stream, or 4-ch facial recognition for face picture
Smart search for the selected area in the video, and smart playback to improve the playback efficiency

Its the 1-ch facial recognition, does that mean 1 camera?

The AcuSense function is what you're needing for Human detection. The function is available on NXI NVRs and on some cameras. There are variations on what is possible depending on whether the AcuSense function is available on the camera or on the NVR.

AcuSense Camera - When using it on a compatible camera, a standard non NXI NVR (NI models) can be used. Human and/or Vehicle filtering can be applied on the camera so that only those events are forwarded to the NVR. As the camera is doing the processing, you can have both motion detection and smart events (intrusion detection, line crossing) with Human/Vehicle detection applied simultaneously.

AcuSense NVR. Standard or AcuSense capable cameras can be used. When used with a standard camera, the NVR does the processing and filtering to Human and/or vehicle. As the resources are limited in the NVR you can usually only use motion detection or smart events for Human/Vehicle detection across all channels; you have to choose to use all motion or all smart events. Some NVRs may be restricted, allowing you to have motion 2.0 across all channels, whereas if you choose smart events there may be a maximum number of channels (sometimes it is resolution dependant)

1 channel facial recognition is exactly as it sounds; only available on one channel. That is facial recognition not face detection. For facial recognition a library of photos is uploaded for the NVR to compare against. I've never used it myself.
