Hey all,

I Just got my CCTV setup done but I'm new to the subject and want to check if the settings I have setup are correct.
Objective is to have the best recording quality.
I have 1 x 8MP HikVision ColorVu Camera and the others are 6MP HiLook Cameras. I have listed the settings from my NVR. Does this look ok, or do I need to tweak anything to ensure I have the best image quality.
The NVR has a 2TB drive, so as long as I have a few days worth of recordings before it overrides, I'm fine with that.

The problem may occur with your NVR, hilook is 2nd grade hikvision product. It might have low input netowrk bandwidth. Having all cranked up will actually start to bottleneck and display various glitches such as green pixels, lags, twitching ,ect...

My single 8MP hikvision camera pulls 40mbit on h264 when theres alot of stuff going on in view. If i would add 7 more 6MP camera i would end up way beyond NVR input bandwidth.
Sometimes no matter how good your cameras are, they will fail to record good quality if NVR cant support them all in max settings.

Thank you that explains it then. Out of curiosity would you be able to suggest an HIKVISION NVR that would work with my setup if I set everything to the highest settings. I might just do that down the line. mine is currently rated at upto 80Mbps, so I'm assuming I'd need something like 120Mbps?
