Chromium - Live video feed not visible on Playback or Live View until made fullscreen

Hi,
Anyone else seen this, I presume it's caused by a Chromium update as the issue is present in Chrome and Edge but not in Firefox.
The Live View and Play Back pages don't display the camera grid at all, just a blank grey screen.
If you change to fullscreen it shows the grid and the live camera feeds.
Or if you double click where the video feed would be, it opens that feed in full screen and is streaming fine.
Or if you single click where the video feed would be, it changes the camera being selected on the left side menu

Upgraded NVR firmware to V5.04.066 build 250620, installed new web plugin, still the same issue

Hi @Rebo00

I have a DS-7616NI-M2/16P... Edge works fine... I've never used Chrome but have seen others reporting similar issues (other sites) since the recent update... This seems to have worked for others:

"I suspect this problem is caused by the combination of Windows 11 and Chrome version 139. I believe that a recent Chrome update changed its rendering method, and some extensions haven't adapted to it yet. I found similar reports about this on Reddit's r/hikvision subreddit.

I was able to solve it using the following method, and I hope it helps you too:

  1. Right-click your Chrome shortcut and select Properties.
  2. In the Shortcut tab, find the Target field.
  3. Add a space at the end of the existing path, and then add this launch parameter: --disable-features=RemoveRedirectionBitmap.
  4. Click Apply, and then OK.
After that, just restart Chrome using the modified shortcut. It should fix the problem."

Nice find, applied that launch parameter and it's now working in Chrome.

Tried adding it on Edge too but it must have a different parameter name as it didn't work there

OS: Win11 26100.4946

Version 139.0.7258.128 (Official Build) (64-bit)

As I went into Chrome's about to see what the version was it updated to Version 139.0.7258.139 (Official Build) (64-bit). Tested again but still doesn't work.

Not sure why, I think I have the latest Edge and everything Hikvision related continues to work fine:

I assume you are running a 3x3 grid like me... mine won't show 9 cameras unless set to sub-streams:

2x2, but 2 cameras are the Panoramic (DS-2CD2387G2P-LSU) and 1 normal (DS-2CD2387G2H-LISU).
Ah, the Insufficient memory was being caused by having it trying to run them in Chrome and Edge at the same time, that's why I didn't see the error last time.

If I close Chrome, open Edge and then browse to the NVR all 3 cameras are loaded but the original issue still exists, blank grey screen, but in full screen I can see them.
I did try changing to Sub-Stream but they still weren't displayed.

So it's a mystery :)

The reason it is likely

The reason why it appears to be working in Edge ok is likely because you have this turned on in Edge settings.
Check Settings, Default Browser, is 'Allow sites to be reloaded in Internet Explorer mode (IE mode)' set to Allow or Default?
Mine is Allow, If I switch it off and clear cookies for my NVR IP address, then I get the grey screen. With Allow it renders properly and comes up.

For Chrome I had already applied the fix mentioned above which I found from Reddit and that works a treat.

Some how, I do not think Hikvision will fix this.

There is a fix for this now from Hikvision. It's not on the local sites, you have to navigate to the Global website and from there, it'a support, Software, HITools, and then you will find verson 1.0.0.113 of LocalServiceComponents. Not sure I can post direct links. Anyway, works for me now in both Chrome / Edge.

Just tried this.
Uninstalled LocalSeviceComponents, downloaded and installed LocalServiceComponents (V1.0.0.113) from here - LocalServiceComponents
Removed the parameter from Chrome
Launched Chrome
Browsed to the NVR web gui but original issue was still present
Added parameter back to Chrome, working again

That is odd as it works for me now without that original parameter workaround in Chome.

In Edge, settings, Default Brower, setting 'Allow sites to be reloaded in Internet Explorer mode (IE mode)' to 'Don't Allow' (reverting another workaround mentioned above) in this browser now also shows Camera/NVR successfully.

I've just applied same 1.0.0.113 to my other PC and that is now working correctly.

And here is the link to Hikvision discussing the issue with Chrome/Edge.
Chrome / Edge version V139 update causes a white screen in the web video window

Searching around, saw a comment that said the below (I am not runnign 5.0 but maybe you are???)
;
For NVR 5.0 software, needed to get this update for the web plugins WebPlugins
Yeah running NVR v5 firmware.

Downloaded the latest WebPlugins from the link, removed the launch parameter from Chrome. Playback works, Live View is just blank grey screen, don't get the video stream even if I full screen it as if no WebPlugin is installed.

Uninstalled LocalServiceComponents, noticed that two versions of WebPlugin is installed, uninstalled both.

Installed WebPlugins-x64.exe > for some reason my default layout has changed back to a single camera. Playback works ok, LiveView is a blank grey screen, don't get the video stream even if I full screen it as if the WebPlugin isn't installed.
Tried in Edge and it would load two of the three videos in Live View but not the third "Opening the live view failed. Please change a browser, reinstall the control, check the network connection or contact our technical support for troubleshooting." Tried changing Sub-Stream, Cloud but made no difference.

Installed WebPlugin.exe > Default Layout back to 4 feeds, try to start the streams and I got "Stream is encrypted. Please set encryption key in local configuration and restart live view."

Uninstalled both WebPlugins.exe and WebPlugins-x64.exe, reinstalled WebPlugins.exe > Default Layout back to 4 feeds, try to start the streams and I got "Stream is encrypted. Please set encryption key in local configuration and restart live view."
Set the Stream Key and cameras are back up and working as normal
(For anyone wondering on NVR 5.0 the Stream Key is on System Configuration > Network Configuration > HIK-Connect > Scar QR Code to Find > Under Step 3 there is a QR code and just below that is Verification Code > Click the Pen to to see the current Stream Key. Go to System Configuration > Local > Enter the Stream Key > Save)

Reinstalled LocalServiceComponents, latest version, so I could view the Live View when remoted directly into the camera.

Summary: WebPlugins-x64.exe doesn't seem to work with 64bit browser so always use the WebPlugin.exe (x86 version).
I thought maybe it's looking for the browsers in the Program Files folder instead of the Program Files (x86) folder, my Chrome is installed in the (x86) folder even though it's the x64 version, and that's causing an issue so I did the below as a test but it still didn't work.

Uninstalled both WebPlugins.exe, copied Google folder from (Program Files x86) to Program Files, installed WebPlugins-x64.exe > Playback still works, LiveView is a blank grey screen, don't get the video stream even if I full screen it.
